Roughly translated.

Quote:
We knew for quite some time, Filmedia working on Editions Blu-ray and DVD ARMY OF DARKNESS: EVIL DEAD III . After a false start, the release date is now set for March 6 and specificities should, in theory, to impose these new drives as essential editions. Indeed, the French publisher will offer three versions of the film either Blu-ray or DVD in a triple. This will therefore find the international version of the film, one distributed in cinemas in France, but also the mounting U.S. and the Director's Cut. Three mounts are advertised as from master HD. On the triple DVD, this should ensure a beautiful picture but Blu-ray, it will be possible to rediscover the film, regardless of the assembly, in high definition! Note that only the mounting international will be proposed in the original version 5.1 but also with French dubbing of time. The other two assemblies will be presented in English Stereo with subtitles in French. In addition, the publisher announced a making-of, deleted scenes, interviews with Sam Raimi , with Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert and an image gallery location, trailer and TV spot.
The question, is will this be identical to the German release, in terms of transfers used?

Well, that changes things - will hold off on the German version until a comparison emerges.

This is much cheaper than the German version, I just hope it has the same content. I really could do without DVD copies of each version of the film.

^ There is a cheaper German bd option, you don't have to buy the 6 disc set.

I completely forgot about that one. But that only has the director's cut, correct? I would very much like all the versions of the film, but just the BD's, not the DVDs. I'll think about it a little.

I only want the DC - I already own a theatrical bd & regretted buying it as soon as I watched it. A horribly diminished cut of the film with no redeeming quality.

i do like that it does not have DVDs plus Amazon France is WAY faster than Germany. I get my stuff in 3-7 days every time. Germany is 3-6 weeks.

Plus the french releases usually are very good quality. unless you want subtitles :-P

The only thing are the run times seem a little strange to me but hopefully just mistakes in the specs. I certainly hope it's not some 25fps issue.

its the regular edition but nothing comes even close to the PQ & AQ of this UK release.
i for one mostly go for extended editions, but in this case the theatricall is wonderfull as is,where the extended gives nothing really more then some dialogue wich is mostly repeated lines actually troughtout the movie.

Well, I'm hoping that the forthcoming French & German bds look a lot better than my current UK bd. And the theatrical cut has a lot of excellent stuff removed, not just repeated lines:

Edit: Also a completely different (and better imo) ending.

That's 100% incorrect, as the good chap above, has just demonstrated.

well see about the PQ & AQ,but i have serious doubts it will improve on the UK blu,the review given about its quality is spot on,and "looking better" the french or german....needs a 5/5 score....wich i doubt even more.
the only time i have sacrifie...the quality is with "dawn of the dead"(1978) extended mall hours cut at 155 min,and with sacrifies i mean it's still "only" on dvd available.

Looking at what Amazon says, only the theatrical cut will be in HD, the other two will be SD sourced from HD masters.

It fits with Amazon saying it will only be 1 disc (except if they could have made a nice steamless branching, in which case it would be no problem, but I doubt this).

Default Slightly drunk rambling AOD thoughts

Maybe I should refer to the ultra-short 'theatrical cut' as 'US theatrical' because that certainly isn't the version that I, my father and the other 30 patrons saw one night at the flicks.

Director's cut is the winner & the MGM print also has the bonus non-Raimi approved blouse ripping shot.

Wouldn't mind a branching cut with the (fantastic) original Campbell face-in-shadows deleted intro - that was damn cool.

The deleted exploration outside the windmill should also find a way back somehow - one of the rare moments of suspense for the feature.

Shame that those 2 sequences were considered too badly damaged to make it back to the 'director's cut'...

Edit: Decided to take the plunge & order the sensibly priced German option.

I'm sure it will be the same as the australian version.
1 cut in HD, the 2 others in SD.
