Anybody on here knows when Sainsbury's charge and ship their pre-ordered titles?
Do they usually arrive before or on release day? Many thanks. |

If you want it early then Asda Direct and Tesco Direct are good bets, my last few orders with them arrived on the Saturday but they do charge you straight away. |

They charge only when it is dispatched and don't forget to link your Nectar card for bonus points. |

Sainsbury's are good, however occasionally things for me haven't turned up but I guess that has happened with other services too, just bad luck.
I am using Sainsbury's less for pre-orders now. A month ago I was using them primarily but I have found cheaper places for a couple of notable pre-orders - for instance Side Effects is £12.99 from Sainsbury's or £10.99 from Blockbuster, and Mud was £13.99 on Sainsbury's and £12.49 from TheEntertainmentStore (Play Marketplace). For most things though they are often cheaper. Their customer service is the best though - better than Amazon even. Maybe not as quick, but much more helpful more often than Amazon are. Also refunds and replacements are sorted automatically which is a huge relief - freepost returns too! A little off-topic but they are great for new release CD's - I have pre-ordered a few new albums from them and they usually arrived on the Friday before release day, and for £2-4 cheaper than anywhere else! Especially great for hard-to-find albums ![]() |

They use TNT which means depending on where you live even when they poast on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday there's no guarantee you'll get a title before release.
Most of my titles seem to arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday after release. A disturbingly high number seem to take 10 days for TNT to get round to delivering them :-( |

Sorry but how is that poor? It was a bank holiday = small backlog which is perfectly fine and understandable. You're just being unreasonable.

As customers it's quite annoying that there is such inconsistency in arrival dates. Seems odd that I get Sainsburys on the Monday yet others get theirs Saturday and so forth with other companies.
Why does that happen? Is it the company sending out at different times on the same day or the delivery/postage service they use being inconsistent? |

My assumption has been that TNT only ever do "hand over" to Royal Mail at the end of the delivery chain twice a week. My pre-orders always seem to arrive Tuesday or Wednesday - and if they miss that then it's the NEXT Tuesday or Wednesday that they arrive.
This is delivery to Orpington and it does seem very much dependent on your location although my experiences with HMV to Southampton when TNT were in the delivery chain was pretty much the same. |

Plus I always get my stuff on the Friday or Saturday before release and sometimes on release but never after that. Sainsbury's is also the best for returns, outstanding service every time. Last edited by Andy2992; 06-26-2013 at 09:41 PM. |

If I want something quickly I go Amazon who always seem to get stuff to me for the Monday, worst case Tuesday. But Sainsbury's often have better prices so waiting isn't too bad. I can honestly say I average 2-3 pre-orders a week from Sainsbury and I don't think I've EVER received an item early. Maybe twice I've received a title on the Monday of release, but that's rare - for Orpington delivery anyway. |
