Default Censor board in India

I saw 'The Pacifier' yesterday on Star Movies and there was a line where the mother tells her kids "Get your butts down here". I couldnt believe that the word 'butts' was censored! This was a PG movie! I understand f bombs and other scenes getting censored but our board is censoring PG movies too! They also censor words like 'damn', 'hell', 'shit'!
You know something's wrong when movies like Spy Kids are censored! On top of this, there is a message saying 'if you have any complaint regarding the nature of the program, please report it at...'.

R rated movies is one thing, but this is too much! A few years ago, it was not like this. What happened in the last 5 years?

Some shithole nonsense politicians and policy makers implemented this kind of ridiculous censoring !!
I don't even switch to these channels. Indian TV is only left good for watching news or some U rated Bollywood movies and songs.
Forget about watching English movies or TV shows on Indian channels.

I couldn't believe that a U rated movie was censored. Even DVDs are censored, I don't know about blu-rays.I bought Steven Segal's Hard to Kill DVD and an entire action scene was cut! I expected shows and movies like Game of Thrones to be cut but movies like Dennis The Menace, Home Alone and Toy Story getting censored is too much.
How is it in theaters?

In theaters, we get all the Bollywood movies fine if there are no regional politics behind a movie. We all know what shit happened to Kamal Hassan's movie !
Films like Gangs of Wasseypur are released without any cut with all the explicit slangs and abuses; but forget about director daring to include a single topless scene, sex scene only with mild moaning!

About Hollywood movies, only PG-13 or PG movies are shown without any cut.
But you can't guarantee if some Boob or Nipple show will not be censored.
I watched 'The Proposal' in theater couple of years back and they didn't show Sandra Bullock's nipples; damn it !! (yeah I know there was only one such glimpse in a scene)

All the R rated movies are censored hugely I guess.
When I watched Django Unchained, they censored all the Boob and Nipple display of Kerry Washington; even the entire scene when she was brought out of the hot box. They also censored Jammie Foxx's testicals and entire scene when Walton Goggins tries to cut his penis !!

God Save India!!

So I asked my cousin to bring me a bunch of Malayalam films to watch... So I sat to watch Mumbai Police and 5 Sundarikal... I really can't believe films like these are getting a 'U' certificate... I won't spoil the climax of Mumbai Police, but it wasnt worth the U certificate...

5 Sundarikal is a movie which consists out of 5 short stories... and the first story was definitely not recommended for children... Not at all!

It's really a shame that films like these are getting U...

The censoring of kids movies is a recent law that was established in order to curb the gang raping in India. According to the first set of statistics, when a cencored version of The Pacifier played on Star tv the other day, only 7 people were reported to be gang raped on that day. Last year, when an uncensored version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory played on Star tv on July 10, 2012, there were 23 cases of gang rape reported on that day. Thus, censorship has brought the raping increasingly lower.

Please tell me that you are being sarcastic and facetious. Because if you are serious and 'censorship' has truly brought down the number of rapes, then please consider me at the very front of demanding a total ban on all crimes from being depicted in movies. Wow, can you imagine, in just a couple of years we will be totally rid of all crimes. NOT.

EDIT: Never mind. Upon re-reading your post, I can't imagine you being anything but facetious.

Brother AFAIK Malayalam is the only language in which movies don't get censored for abuses and fight scenes.F words are used often in nowadays movies here, but they don't get beeped or muted. The really sad part is the warning watermarks when smoking and alcoholism is displayed. The certificate is not the thing that matters, all matters is the way you see it.I don't believe movies are making people addicted to tobacco and alcohol.I feel ashamed about the government implementing these kind of stupid ideas to degrade the art of cinema!!!

I actually think that the smoking is injurious to health before the film stars is actually a good think, but that giant disgusting video that was in front of Jolly LLB, the random rainbow patterns on ladies' torsos or stomachs (which ironically bring more attention to that area of the body) , and the annoying censor logo and text during a film in completely trivial and menial scenes in a film are completely idiotic.

I mean, sure I get that people are often influenced by the main character and sometimes even the villain, but these characters in films nowadays are generally non smokers

A Rated Hindi Movies also have uncensored abuses and pretty intense fight scenes , the only thing not permitted in India is Nudity , and yeah those watermarks during smoking scenes are insane ,they look cheap and they actually do degrade "The Art of Cinema" in some manner.
