That cover is way better than the Best Buy one. I'm going to sell my Best Buy steelbook of The Dark Knight, and preorder this one. Are the North American and UK Blu-ray of The Dark Knight identical?

So, Batman Begins is a colour photo of Batman, The Dark Knight is a B&W photo of Joker, and The Dark Knight Rises is a completely different design than the other two?

Zavvi FAILS!

Yes, yes, and the TDKR steelbooks are left over stock from HMV.

Zavvi are trying there hardest to make steelbook collecting boring. Re-releasing everything is such a easy way out. Get some ****ing balls zavvi and make your own designs. Useless twats.

As said previously this is not a zavvi exclusive and its not a re-release, there has not been a UK steelbook of The Dark Knight individually before

I do not accept Batman packaging, especially The Dark Knight, in white.

Its still a re-release of already produced artwork..... your missing my point...

" Hey Mr UK Film man were giving you the rights to produce a TDK steelbook for the UK they havent had one and therefor knock yourself out... "

" Thank you Mr steelbook man i will get on it.... "

Meanwhile back at UK film man headquarters

" HEY GUYS... We have been given the nod to produce a TDK steelbook..... Well i think we should not bother making our own lets just copy someone else.... And then give it to Zavvi they already love re-releasing old steelbook gems... "

" Yes Boss god your so good at being creative and original just what the UK Market need. "

I disagree. I feel like someone at the companies are actually clued into what steelbooks would sell in masses. I'm happy to see that they are not just creating a reproduction of something that UK has already had. I'm also glad they aren't making a design so outlandish that you either love it or hate it (like UK version of looper). I'm looking at it as a trend. If they continue to invest in steelbooks, then who knows what cool things are in the future.

Good Point - Yer but being clued up to what would sell is not helping the Steelbook collectors...
its only helping there pockets...
Take Play for instance.... Iron Man slight tweeks mean they havent copied FS exclusive although knowing that it would sell...
WHY direct copy someone elses work.... its boring for US. (Not USA by US i mean collectors.)

See, now you have to look at it this way. NOBODY ANYWHERE has released a nice complete matching set for this franchise yet. That is what's pissing me off about this scenario.

If Zavvi was smart (and one would think that it was the case considering their efforts with the upcoming Indiana Jones artwork), they would pick a theme and stick with it. They would use either B&W or colour for all 3, not one in colour and one in B&W. Then, they would put Bane's face on the cover of TDKR in the same manner as the previous titles in the franchise. THAT would be the best way to approach these releases.

The closest thing we have to a complete matching set right now are the North American steelbooks. Batman Begins and TDK work really well together. TDKR is decent, but doesn't really "match" and fit in with the other two even though it looks "ok" when all are placed side-by-side.

I agree a full matching set UK Exclusives would of been great..... Even the 3 different bat logos like on the dvd trilogy cover could of worked... but just copying is lazy and pure no thought for anyone but them selfs.

Why is everyone blaming Zavvi when its Warners who are at 'fault'?

I've no problem with the designs of the first two - never available in the UK before, why should people have to import? But it would have been above and beyond to have both the first and the second picking either black and white or colour for both, and doing a Bane one for Dark Knight Rises. I think the inclusion of that would have made all complaints about the first two being 'copies' go away and given us the steelbook that a lot of collectors really want.

This is what is keeping me from even thinking about these. The fact that IMO the three of these would look awkward next to each other is reason enough to not consider them. I will stick with my US BB releases and hopefully just do some inside artwork on the first two and call it a day.
