Can't wait for this one myself. Superbly brings Nicholas Monserrat's novel of the Battle Of The Atlantic to life.

I would imagine that it will be Region B locked which is pretty much the norm for Optimum. However, a variation to that theme would be very welcome from anyone wanting to pick up this film without multi region capability.

It's from the same "digitally remastered" series as "Peeping Tom" and "The Man Who Fell to Earth". Both are region B locked.

Default Cruel Sea

Does anyone know if this will have subtitles? The Dambusters came out as a bare bones disc and was the re-released in a greedy grab for more money with subtitles and some extras. Will this be another similar disgraceful case?

Yes. I can confirm that the disc has English SDH subtitles.

I give storyline of this movie like At the start of World War II, Cmdr. Ericson is assigned to convoy escort HMS Compass Rose with inexperienced officers and men just out of training. The winter seas make life miserable enough, but the men must also harden themselves to rescuing survivors of U-Boat attacks, while seldom able to strike back. Traumatic events afloat and ashore create a warm bond between the skipper and his first officer.

United Kingdom The Cruel Sea

One of the best British war movies, I have loved this since I saw it on its UK cinema release, as a little boy my father took me to see it at the 'Playhouse' cinema in Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk UK. I pre-ordered it months ago and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. This is one masterful picture.

wow, I have that original Dam Busters, but didn't realize it didn't have subs, and that the later pressing did.
wow, that really makes me angry.

My late grandfather was on the convoys in WW2. When I was young this came on tv on a Sunday afternoon and he switched it of saying it was true to life.

Great movie.

I confirm this. Amazing film and I may even prefer it to Das Boot which I adore as well. 10/10 from me.
