Default PS3 Digital Video Recorder for the United States market?

Has there been any official news about Sony releasing a USB ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuner for the United States market that would turn the PS3 into a digital video recorder? I see that consumers in Europe can use their PS3 as a DVR. This would be a popular feature for some people. Of course a TIVO or separate DVR would be better since if someone wants to play games or watch BLU-RAY movies they would most likely would not be able to record from the PS3 DVR at the same time.
Here is a story on the Europe PS3 DVR

I doubt we'll see it stateside until Tru2Way (or whatever they rename it next week ) is actually rolled out. Dealing with ClearQAM tuning is a PITA and far too limited in many markets. The tech support calls would be through the roof with people who couldn't find channels they wanted, etc. We're getting there, but CableLabs has been doing a great job of dragging this process out over as long a period as humanly possible. The same problems are a huge holdback for the release of standalone recorders stateside, which is too bad, as there are some fantastic products being released overseas that actually, ya know, work.
