Default Prometheus and Alien Anthology

I ordered Prometheus and Alien Anthology on Amazon today, and as unbelievable as it may be I've never seen any of these movies before. When they come in the mail, what order should I watch the movies in? I heard Prometheus is a prequal, so should I watch that one first, or all the Alien movies first?

Watch Aliens vs Predators first, then Alien 4, then the 2nd half of Prometheus, then the theatrical cut of Alien 3, and then the first half of Prometheus. Don't watch Alien or Aliens, as those are trash.

Since no one is actually looking to help you I will. Watch them in this order:

Alien (Theatrical Cut)
Aliens (Director's Cut)
Alien 3 (Assembly Cut)
Alien Resurrection (Can be skipped)
Prometheus

Just as an aside, don't ignore the special features of Alien Anthology either. The best in the biz

The 4-hour doc on Prometheus 3D is worth the extra investment for anyone else who hasn't ordered the 2D set.

This... except I would recommend watching the Theatrical Cut (which is in fact the true Director's Cut) of Alien Resurrection. It's a very strange and charming film.

No matter what the timelines within the films are, they should be watched in release order. While I agree the DC of Aliens is better, it might be too much for a first timer. You should discover that down the road like the rest of us.
Alien 3 is tough because the AC is so much better, but again, maybe should be a down the road bonus. If you do watch that version first, remember this. In the theater cut the Alien was born of a dog, which is why it acts like a dog and not a bull in both versions. Definitely do theater for Resurrection, the other cut sucks worse. Then you get to see Prometheus.

Probably better to watch them in order. Loved Alien and Aliens. After that, I think that the rest of them could be edited together into one really good movie.

Well, Prometheus is pretty good; but its a different kind of movie. There are some plot issues and character choices that were edited out that made you scratch your head as to why that happened. But, if you do watch the 3 disc version, it is amazing (the extras) and will explain a few things.

You don't need to watch Prometheus first at all as it's an indirect prequel. It takes place before Alien, but the events that occur in the movie are for the most part totally isolated.

Promethus really has nothing to do with the other Alien movies. It actually changes the ideas behind the past movies into something new.

Here's the order I've watched/will watch them in.

-Alien
-Aliens DC
-Alien Vs. Predator

-Alien3 (starting it in about 5 minutes)
-Alien Resurrection (tomorrow night)
-Prometheus (next week)
-Aliens Vs. Predator: Requiem (not looking forward to viewing this; ?)

I watched Prometheus before any of the Alien quadrilogy and I felt fine. Probably best to watch in release order though, and someone before said that the theatrical cut of Alien and Aliens are important slices of cinema that you should watch those before the DCs.

I got the 2 disc version because for the most part I'm disappointed with 3D films (aside from Hugo, that one was great in 3D)

The estimated time of arrival for these movies is Nov. 7 – Nov. 9

I will add my smart ass post too and say watch Alien theatrical, Aliens special edition, leave Alien 3 and Resurrection in their slots and don't even open Prometheus.

Alien Resurrection should not be skipped. It has Sigourney Weaver and Winona Ryder in the same film which makes the experience worthwhile, and it's just sci fi B movie fun.
