Default PS3 40gb question

I'm thinking about picking up another PS3. The 40gb goes on sale tomorrow. From what I gather, this new PS3 will not be backwards compatible with PS2/PS games but other than that, is it basically the same as far as Blu-ray quality etc... ?

Should be no difference..they also dropped SACD from it but reduced the power consumption and made it even quieter than it already is. And it has 2 USB ports instead of 4.

No backwards compatibility with PS2 games ONLY. PSOne emulation works fine.

The rest is like others have said. No SACD playback. 2 USB ports. No card reader.

I just read an article online and it looks like the 40gb also uses quite a bit LESS power consumption and even runs a little cooler (not that heat has been an issue with PS3 ... like it HAS been with xbox 360) but it's cool that Sony did that.

Just hooked up the 40gb and it is whisper quite...No joke.I also noticed on power the fan does not kick on...as matter of fact you cant feel fan when BR is playing...Running very very cool...Pretty amazing really.
1.93 downloaded without a flaw...ALL IS WELL
I'm going to give my brother my 80gb as the early Christmas present.

Why though? It has significantly less feature than the 40GB. The card reader thing is handy when family members take digital photos and you want to view them instantaneously on a HDTV.

The extra USB ports is handy with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, since it uses the USB ports as its dongle.

I mostly use PS3 for blu-Ray viewing. The 40GB makes no noise or heat.
SD card use..I have no need.
PS2 games...never played.
USB ports..2 are enough for me.

My Brother does need a Christams so it will be a early one..He will love
