Default Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) (Remastered)

Quote:
Coming March 9th!

BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA (1974)
• 2017 HD Master From a 4K Scan of the Original Camera Negative
• Audio Commentary by Film Historians Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons, David Wedlle and Nick Redman
• TRAILERS FROM HELL with Josh Olson
• Theatrical Trailer
• Reversible Art
• Limited Edition O-Card Slipcase
• Dual-Layered BD50 Disc
• Optional English Subtitles

Color 112 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R
From Sam Peckinpah, the legendary director of Ride the High Country, The Wild Bunch, Straw Dogs, The Getaway and Convoy, comes this audacious crime drama starring the great Warren Oates (Barquero, Two-Lane Blacktop). When a Mexican land baron puts a million dollars on the head of the man who seduced and impregnated his daughter, two money-hungry hired killers recruit a small-town bartender (Oates) to help them do their dirty work. But their tequila-fueled trek across the desolate Mexican frontier grows more intense, gruesome and bloody with every savage murder they leave in their wake. Some people will do anything for a million dollars! Co-starring Gig Young (They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?), Robert Webber (Wild Geese II), Kris Kristofferson (Semi-Tough) and the seductively beautiful Isela Vega (The Black Widow), Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia is a gritty classic that vibrates with explosive action and nail-biting tension.

A shame that they aren't included the hours of extras already out there for this movie. I was really hoping Arrow was going to finally give it a NA release as their release is stacked!

I just bought the Region B Arrow, so you all can thank me.

Doesn’t have Arrow’s 2nd commentary (or Twilight Time’s 2 exclusive ones), or the Man of Iron doc, so I don’t feel that bad. Great to see the 4K scan get a Region A release, though - it looks fantastic.

It's actually missing almost all of the extras from the Twilight Time releases. On top of the two other commentaries, it's also missing:

Isolated Score Track (presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 mono)
"Passion and Poetry: Sam's Favorite Film" documentary (480i, 55:36)
"A Writer's Journey: Garner Simmons with Sam Peckinpah in Mexico" featurete (480i, 25:54)
"Promoting Alfredo Garcia" slideshow (480i, 5:59)
US TV Spots (480i, 3:57)

Not to mention the 10+ hours of extras from the Arrow release.

Yeah, it's a shame they couldn't get any of that - between the TT and Arrow releases there's a massive amount of great features (though I missed out of the LE on the Arrow with 11 hour doc). The one commentary the Kino has is great, but it's been around since the DVD release and has been on every release since.

I own both TT releases, Arrow LE, and Japanese release...time to add the Kino Blu to the collection. I'm surprised at the light extras with not even the "Passion and Poetry" excerpt being included.

Kino- please use Laserdisc audio. I sold my TT copy a while back because the audio was downright terrible. I’m confident that the Laserdisc PCM audio would sound better than whatever trash was on the existing BDs.

The 94 minute version is on Arrow's Standard Edition. The 2 Disc Limited Edition had a 10 hour version as well.

10 hour? Even with David Mackenzie encoding I can’t imagine that fitting on 1 disc.

The "10 hour version" are extended interviews culled from SD Betacam tapes.

Could Kino nab other Peckinpah films? Major Dundee and Killer Elite were both on TT, so maybe they would be down for those.

"Major Dundee" is Sony and Kino haven't made a deal with them. Scorpion have "The Killer Elite".
