Default Grounding my AMP

I had a service tech come from samsung yesturday and he told me a little trick about grounding.

He said to get some speaker wire and connect it to my amp and tv and then run it to the outlet screw.

Question is ,is this true would it work? he also said to do it on the Ps3 and xbox 360

Thanks

I don't see the purpose of doing this, nor do I see it having any effect. Your electronics are already grounded, granted your house is wired properly. Wiring speaker wire to the screw isn't going to make any contact to an actual ground wire in your house.

Where did he tell you to connect this extra speaker wire on your amp/PS3?

The screw in the faceplate of your power outlet is connected to the conduit box that according to code has to be properly grounded. That is the best way to get rid of ground loops.

Many turntables and amps have grounding wires or posts that are meant to be grounded in this way.

I have grounded my AMP by using hookup wire connected to screw on the chassis, then wired to the earth connection of a hospital grade male plug, which was then plugged into an outlet. My dad thought this was pure BS, until he heard it for himself. Its easy to do and cheap.

I also put a copper union on the IEC input of my Oppo and AMP with very noticeable effect. This tweak has a lot of play on multiple "audiophile" websites. Its cheap to try, and all parts are returnable (to your local hardware store)

This video highlights these two tweaks:

Grounding issues are one of those things that are either a problem or they aren't. If something is not humming, grounding it more isn't going to improve the sound quality.
