Oh my God, I just asked HMV on Facebook about this. Didn't see this thread at first and just posted on the normal amaray thread What they said.

Strange that they're saying this (this was at 16:50) if they have had the listing listing up since earlier today

I do like the artwork, reminds me of the Underworld awakenings one ...Ive enjoyed the RE films, but Ive not seen this one as yet...but 17 quid...hmmm this could fall victim to my new years rules on cracking down on blind buying stuff....

Id be happier with it nearer to £15...

Very few steelbooks in the UK are the 3D versions when available, especially Sony releases so we shouldn't be surprised.

I think that 3D is even more specialised here than it is in say, the US. I should imagine that in general, more consumers are swayed by funky packaging than they are in a 3D copy which they don't even the hardware to watch. The die-hards, as we've seen are willing to buy the steelbook and the 3D version to get what they ultimately want.

I'm more annoyed about the lack of DVD copies in steelbooks than I am 3D versions which I never watch or will watch. If it's both versions on 1 Blu-ray then fine, but I'd rather have had a DVD in the Prometheus steelbook (especially for the price) than a coaster which is all it is to me.

Yes but the point is this film was made for 3D...so my point is more valid because of this.

The only reason to see this film is because it's 3D porn. Without the 3D it's nothing. No buy for me.

I don't dispute that.

But for home cinema 3D just isn't that common, but collectors love to buy steelbooks. From a business point of view, releasing the non 3D as a steebook still generates the sales that Sony want from steelbook collectors. 3D lovers will buy the 3D version. Regular customers will just pick up the amaray and die-hard 3D and steelbook fanatics either have to choose or buy both.

Kerching!

Seems to be the correct link out of the two, as HMV have it with the Columbia Tristar label.

United Kingdom Amazon UK picking this up?

Hopefully Amazon UK will be picking this one up as well, as they have two new listings as well as the normal amarays:

2D Amaray Listing
3D Amaray Listing

New Listing 1
New Listing 2

Surely there was only ever going to be one Steelbook release from HMV?
