Thought this might help newbys to high quality music such as myself get a better idea of what is available. I'll start with my favorite 10 and put them in order of preference to me and include format.
1. Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here, BDA 5.1, 4.0 2. Rush: Farewell To Kings, DVD-A 5.1 3. Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon, SACD 5.1 4. Rush: Moving Pictures, BDA 5.1 5. Dire Straits: Brothers In Arms SACD 5.1 6. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Damn The Torpedoes, BDA 5.1 7. AC/DC: Back In Black, Dual Disk 2.0 8. Eric Clapton: Slowhand, SACD 5.1 9. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Live Anthology, BDA 5.1 (62 songs!) 10.King Crimson: Discipline, DVD-A 5.1 Obviously I'm a big fan of older rock. I've ranked these by a combination of sound quality and personal enjoyment of the music itself. IMO a perfect sound mix doesn't matter much if I don't like the music. I lucked out when I bought it about 4 or 5 years ago. Paid like $20 for it. The 2 BJ discs are also going for over $100 a piece. Think I'll hang on to them for a while though.

This is actually 4.0 Quad, although Mike finally did release the 2009 remaster in 24/48 .flac digital download as the DVD-Video version on the CD+DVD SKU is lossy 448 Kbps Dolby Digital, a huge disappointment to many surround sound fans.
I love the 2009 5.1 mix, but I also love the SACD. I got mine for $35CDN at a record show @ 2009, steal. I listed it for $300 on Amazon Canada as I wouldn't stand in the way of someone wanting to pay that much for it as I'd be in idiot, but I hope no-one ever actually buys it, lol. The Quad mix is so smooth and true to the original. Hopefully Mike releases deluxe Blu-ray editions of the first four albums and includes the original quad mixes remastered as well as the original stereo and remastered stereo and 5.1 mixes. I'd be in on all of them. Looking forward to Crises and Five Miles Out which are currently being mixed into 5.1 by Mike. |

And Rush
![]() They have always been my favorite live band. ![]() I'm really glad they seem to be one of the few that embrace the BDA format. Any stand alone albums they release on BDA will be added to the collection. Hoping Hemispheres is next. ![]() |
