Default HDMI Switcher Advice

With the new gaming systems coming my HT is rather starved for HDMI ports, I would like to know if any of you have used an HDMI switcher? Is there any lag to them and if you have used multiple which is the best you have used. Just to let everyone know this HDMI switcher will also be ran into a receiver if that matters.
Any advice would be great thanks

Not sure what else you have connected to the receiver, but I run my Dishnetwork directly to the Tv. This frees up an hdmi slot and actually has advantages rather than going through the receiver. Allows for separate custom picture settings.

I tried two HDMI switchers and they were funky. I finally just got a new receiver with more HDMI inputs

I've used 2 from Monoprice and both worked great. First was a manual push button 2 in 1 out and the second was an IR one that 4 in 1 out. No complaints with either, I integrated the second one I had into my automation software as it had discrete IR signals for all 4 channels. Mine did not run through the receiver as I was using a legacy HDMI free one at the time.

I own a couple different HDMI switches, each of which offer discrete IR/RS-232 control. For use with my 6 Sony BDP-CX7000ES Blu-ray Changers I purchased an 8-port HDMI switch from Amazon.com which can be seen here. There are pics of the switch in my home theater gallery here as well. I also own a couple small 3-port HDMI switches made by Oppo which pop up used on EBay for time to time. You can check out the Oppo switches that I own here. Have had no issues running either brand switch through my home theater receiver, then on to my plasma display.

I've bought 2 HDMI switchers from Monoprice and been very happy with them. First was a 4-in, 2-out matrix switch. Then when I realized it would be nice to have a few more TVs around the house available to switch to, I upgraded to a 4-in, 4-out matrix switch.

I've been using a Kinivo 501 BN for more than a month now and it's been working fine so far. It's a 5 in 1 out switcher. I've got a PS3, Xbox360, and a WiiU hooked up to 3 of the ports and the remaining 2 are anxiously awaiting a PS4 and Xbox 180(both pre-ordered launch day).

I bought the Kinivo from Amazon for $40 and I'm happy with it, but it's the only switcher I've ever tried so...so far so good. Anyway, you might want to check this one out. Good luck with your hunt!

You could run your PVR picture via component cables (if your running HDMI now) since you can only get 720p to 1080i for TV content right now.
