Default Amazon.com vs .ca

I love how the Canadian site is crazy expensive vs the American site.

For example.
300 on Blu is 31.99 for Canada
23.95 for U.S.

Another one.

Casino Royale in Canada = 36.77

in the U.S. = 24.95.

LOL. GG Amazon.

US Canucks are always getting the shaft from many places, despite our dollar being on par (or better) with the US one. Much as I'd like to shop in Canada to keep my cash in our economy, the retailers have to give me an incentive to do so. And that means the same deals our US friends get.

I sent an email to Amazon.ca asking why their offers aren't the same as Amazon.com's. I can only guess they don't want my business 'cause I didn't get an answer...

Here. you can have my form letter from these crooks.

Quote:
Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.ca.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding. Prices on Amazon.ca do not
reflect prices on Amazon.com, regardless of the current exchange
rate. While many of the items we offer on the Amazon.ca web site are
also offered on Amazon.com, the prices of items offered on both
sites may not be the same.

Many factors in the Canadian marketplace, including what we pay to
our own suppliers, affect the prices that we charge at any given
time our customers on Amazon.ca. This may result in different prices
on Amazon.ca and on Amazon.com for the same item.

We are unable to match prices on our other web sites. However, you
are certainly welcome to purchase from Amazon.com if you'd like. If
you do decide to purchase from Amazon.com, note that international
orders may be subject to international shipping charges as well as
customs fees.

It is always important for us to hear how customers react to all
aspects of shopping at Amazon.ca. Strong customer feedback like
yours helps us continue to improve the selection and service we
provide, and we appreciate the time you took to write to us.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.ca.

Best regards,

Kumaren A.

> Comments:I have been surfing your site and the U.S. Amazon site
and find the Canadain prices way to expensive. I wanted to buy the
Spiderman Blu Ray 3 Blu Ray Box set and found that your price is
almost 40% more than your U.S. site price. Is there a good reason
for this, considering that the Canadian dollar is now worth $1.06 to
1 U.S. dollar? To me, your company is gouging the Canadian
consumer. How can you explain the $65.99 USD, plus free shipping
deal to the $88.95 CND plus shipping deal? I don't care to hear
about you being separate entities, considering that you cross
promote your sites on the countries sites. I want to pay the
$65.99USD price and have the free shipping to my address, in
Ontario. If you cannot accomodate this price, then don't expect to
ever get any business from me and all the people that I'll mention
this to, in the forseeable future.

My sister rents a P.O. Box at a post office across the border from Niagara Falls. I order all of my BD's from Amazon.com and have them sent to that box. She just picks them up for me when she makes her shopping trips across the border. Free shipping and I pay U.S. prices. Actually... with her picking them up I get them delivered to my door.

I shop only from Amazon.com

There is no gst (6%...soon 5% saved)
There is no duty (ships from canadian warehouse)
There is American retail pricing (save ~$10 / BD)
There is the strong CAD (1 CAD = 1.06800 USD)

If you are a Canadian, you are putting yourself at a sever disadvantage if you purchase BD from amazon.ca or any other canadian retail location.

The only issue is if you can't wait the week for stuff to ship and must have the instant gratification of purchasing locally from a retail outlet.

The products are shipped from the USA then re-labelled to be mailed from the Canadian warehouse. If they were available at the Canadian warehouse, it would be listed as "IMPORT" on Amazon.ca.

Plus, no PST either.

If you want to save on shipping, go to DVDPacific.com, I buy from there more often than I buy from Amazon.com. Never got charged duty tax for it.

Ah, I see... I just saw the Canadian address on the label and made an assumed, upon further inspection, there is a US address on there too.

What's this PST you speak of

Damn you Albertans for your lack of a PST. You even get check from the government once in a while from budget surpluses because of the oil industry. Grrrr. BC has a lot of potential natural gas deposits off the coast of northern BC that are worth even more than the oil fields of alberta but the bloody environmentalists and federal government won't allow us to develop those resources.

Actually, NE BC is doing pretty well recently for nat gas and some oil... the piss off is that the OGC has such stringent requirements on cross-border measurement and likes to make things in general difficult.

Haven't got a check in a long time... Only ever got one, and with the way that nat gas prices have slumped recently, it's not gonna happen again. Another would be nice, I could buy a couple Blu-ray with it

I think that I'm going to order my Spidy 3 Disk set, plus a couple of FOX titles from Amazon.com. I'll wait for tomorrow to order, so I can help next week, the second week of Spidy, to help those Neilson Numbers. I presume that we'll blast DUD this week, with this huge release. Next weeks numbers may need the help more.
