India/Bollywood 7 Khoon Maaf

7 Khoon Maaf is up for Pre order on the Big Home video Site. Even though they do take some time to release their titles ( Robot blu ray has also been pending for some time after the pre order went up), atleast it means that we will definitely have this movie in the near future.

How did this UTV film, unlike Tees Maar Khan/Guzaarish/No One Killed Jessica, succesfully evade a shitty Disney Home Video release ?

It has therefore even had the possibility of releasing on Blu-ray. Wish the other UTV titles follow soon !!! But Disney has proven to be anti-Blu-ray.

Watched this on DVD last weekend. Had a lot of potential but failed to impress me with a very linear screenplay and lack of developing the characters in order to fit the 7 stories within a given time frame.

I like Vishal's films and I am fan of his but this one didn't meet my expectations. I am not saying the movie was bad. It was good but he should have used 4 or 5 khoons only and more emphasis on character development and make it further dark which is Vishal's forte.

Apart from that many scenes are very well captured and some are quitesymbolic to lure the audience to get into the mood.

The DVD copy is good and looked and sounded fine on my PJ. Hopefully the BD will be good in terms of PQ and AQ for those who are waiting to see this on BD.

I really enjoyed it (there is evidence on the net somewhere of my opinion), especially the finale. I don't think it was crazy enough or over the top enough to be a hit in India, which is why it failed.

@anibap - I am a little confused; this movie could be still playing in the theatres. Where did you get a DVd from??

While watching this movie on the big screen, one thing I felt throughout was how dark the movie was and how much it relied on dim lighting and shadows. Even outdoor scenes in broad daylight was muted in terms of color rendering.... that was perhaps intentional on the director's part but surely makes for a lousy visual!
I love VB but I wish he gets over this infatuation with shadows and dimly lit interior shots always

I didn't see it, but the trailer and music was very odd. I didn't think it would work, at least not in the NRI audience. According to one site, 7 Khoon Maaf collected only $270,207 in the U.S.

If i went by reviews from film sites, i'd probably miss all the best movies (in my opinion). I enjoyed Saat Khoon Maaf, I throught Priyanka was amazing throughout the movie and she is really presenting herself well. I totally disagree with people who say this film was crap. Vishal attempts at a dark comedy was appreciated, although i agree its not for everyone. The music grows on you like every other Vishal Bhardwaj soundtrack, the visual appeal is dramatic and dark, but duly serves its purpose. I would buy this one on blu just for Priyanka, she was amazing. I loved the end of this movie as well...
