According to Ascot Elite's web site, it looks like both releases will have English audio tracks:

They should. The English tracks are actually official, not just dubs.
![]() The DVD releases were very impressive for their time, but if these are done right they should look lovely. Pro-B Last edited by pro-bassoonist; 07-24-2013 at 05:48 AM. Reason: Typo |

They are actually very well made. I think this is Franco's best period.
It will be interesting to see exactly what ends up on these discs because the DVD of Jack the Ripper Image Entertainment released quite some time ago in the U.S. had very good supplemental features. (I see there are some extras listed on the German site, but let's see what ends up on the discs). I believe it has been OOP for quite some time now. Also, there are quite a few films in the Anchor Bay Collection of Franco films in the UK that apparently have received new transfers. This set: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jess-Franco-...nco+collection Unfortunately, in the UK these are cut. There are Swiss releases of these films that are not cut. (I have to check which ones were out). Anyhow, this specific period, the 60s up to the very late 70s, is where, in my opinion, you get Franco's best work. It is also where Klaus Kinski's work becomes very...different. By the way, McCrutchy, if you enjoy Kinski, you should get this 2DVD set below while it is available. This film will not make it to Blu-ray. Kinski Paganini DVD ![]() https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...light=paganini ![]() ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us Pro-B |

Fantastic news!!!
I have the DVDs of this Jess Franco / Erwin C. Dietrich collection that were released in Switzerland by VIP (Ascot re-released them in Germany and omitted bonus materials and audio tracks almost for all of them) but the transfers are basically the same, and I agree, they already looked marvellous on DVD so I cross my fingers for true legit HD releases! ![]() Those prices are so sweet, too!!! ![]() |

There is also a very interesting DVD box set of Dietrich films in Germany/Switzerland. The transfers are not the best, but these are probably the only releases these films will get.
(I could post a photo of the box set later on, if needed). Pro-B |

Pro-B, thanks for posting the Kinski - Jack the Ripper release news...really looking forward to this.
In addition to your Paganini recommendation (which is really getting hard to find), may I throw out there a must-see/own of Kinski's Jesus Christus Erloeser /Jesus Christ Savior which is a fascinating account of Kinski's mad-genius placed before a live (Vietnam era) crowd. DVD only, but looks pretty good all things considered. |

Almost all of their DVDs in this collection were region free, so I hope that the blu-rays will also be playable outside of Region B

Diabolikdvd.com states that Jack the Ripper is an All Region disc.

Also, one recommendation:
There is a quite valuable 8-disc DVD set in Germany, which I think English-speakers interested in producer Erwin C. Dietrich's work should consider. Ingrid Steeger did a number of films for the Swiss producer, and some of the best are in this box set. (Note: Rolls-Royce Baby is not included in the collection).
