Has anyone else here noticed nearly all of their Amazon 4K/Blu-Ray/DVD orders very rarely ship with their slipcovers?
Is Amazon taking the slipcovers and just throwing them away in order to save a penny off the shipments? Like they're hurting really bad... Nearly nothing I order (and I order a lot) comes with the cardboard slipcovers. I would order elsewhere but the shipping costs of other places kills most deals when you just want a single item thing. I will say when I do order from other stores I almost always get the slipcover if the item is suppose to have one. Anyone else as bothered with this as I am? I've even had tv shows stripped of the slipcovers and I just find this to be incredibly gross/annoying. Especially as a Prime subscriber. |

Seems like it's impossible to get ANYTHING, from any vendor, with a slipcover past the first two or three weeks of street date. I, Tonya came out about four months back, no slips anywhere.

I doubt Amazon would remove slipcovers to save a little in shipping costs because the time it would take for employees to remove the slips and the cost to dispose of them would be greater than any shipping savings. Usually only the first run of a movie has slipcovers and that run can sell out fast and then be replaced with a run that doesn't feature slips.

If they're removing slips, it's highly unlikely to save on shipping. Some third party vendors might do that, but it wouldn't make sense for amazon to. A much more plausible scenario would be they're trying to avoid frivolous returns. Nothing against slipcover collecting, but some tend to be pretty unreasonable, labeling common creases and such as damage. I can see amazon telling their shipping department to remove slips if they show damage prior to shipping. Of course, we've also seen releases in the past where it appeared as if slipcovered editions were only sent to physical stores, afterall they're meant to make the product stand out on shelves and some studios likely still look at them that way, even though others clearly get their desirability in the collector market. And of course, you can't forget that fewer slipcovered copies are being made and amazon likely goes through their initial order faster than any other distributor, which slips are generally a first batch only product.

They don't just like most major retailers like Target (I worked there), once the initial shipment comes in with slipcovers, MOST Replenishment items of the movies do not contain slipcovers, and like 99% of the time any replacement shipments had No slips with them.

Coming from a slipcover fiend, the only time I've had slips missing from Amazon shipments is for catalog titles. Something that has been out for a couple weeks/months, and I feel that's normal. Any time I've gotten something release week, it has a slip. It always arrives damaged though, so I just stopped ordering new releases online. Can always go to Best Buy.

If they wanted to go to the store and buy it, they would’ve done that that’s not the point of their post the point of their post being that if you purchase something, you should get what you paid for plain and simple. And I self believe that Amazon is removing the slip covers. I’ll give you an example recently, I purchased Donnie Darko 4K Limited edition the disk were not connected in the box and of course, no slip cover and if you are a movie collector, you know you cannot get these arrow videos, but at very limited retail stores you have to order them online and they always look better with a slip cover. So i’ll be contacting Arrow video for a replacement, which will probably not do any good.
