Default Is there a Hannibal anthology collection?

Sorry if this isn't the right forum for it, but I have been interested in checking out the Hannibal trilogy on Blu-ray, and was wondering:

I saw there is a trilogy, but it only has Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal... is there a release that has Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon, and Hannibal: Rising?

Manhunter and Hannibal: Rising don't matter so much to me, but the main trilogy, Silence, Hannibal, and Dragon... do they have a release where I can get all of them in one pack?

The "Hannibal Lecter Trilogy" (Red Dragon / The Silence of the Lambs / Hannibal) on Blu-ray in the UK claims to be region free. Here's the link.

Oh, very nice! Are the transfers good?

And, how would I go about importing it? It looks like it's not too expensive

If you follow the Blu-ray.com link to Amazon.co.uk you can sign in using your U.S. account information, and purchse with american tender. Also, Google Chrome is great with translating said pages if need be.

There's currently one user review on this site, they claim an average of 4 out of 5 for video and audio quality.

It would be great if Universal allowed Fox to release a set with Red Dragon in it. Perhaps as an exchange for something Fox/MGM has. I'm surprised Rising hasn't been released in the US too.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. Thank you very much!

Hm... might have to try finding Death Sentence, Dead Silence, and Perfume: Story of a Murderer. Three HD DVDs that I haven't yet picked up on Blu-ray. Are all of those region-free?

Edit: Okay, apparently Dead Silence is the only one from that three-movie selection that's region-free. And that's the one I am least excited for on Blu-ray of the three. Ironic.

Does the PS3 have any Region-free capability? Like where I can play a Region B film on it?

Oh, that sucks I heard Rising was pretty bad, but I still really want to see it. It sounds strange and interesting. I'm wondering if the negative reception is why they haven't released it over here yet? I'm not sure.

If you're planning on importing more titles that aren't out in the U.S., you can use the title search at the top of the page. Assuming your preferences are locked to the U.S. - Where the american flag emblem is located, click and chose "All Countries" as your search preference, then search for the title you want. It should show results for said title in each country it's been released in, and it'll show you what region it is locked to for playback.

If you're like me, and hate reversed spines or foreign font on the movies you buy, you can poke around with unboxing videos and ask other forum members who own the movies you're interested in about the packaging. Most people are pretty cool about it, and enjoy helping a collector in need of assistance.

AHHHHHH! So awesome. Thank you so very much

Turns out Perfume: Story of a Murderer and Death Sentence are both region-free in Germany. Is the Blu-ray thing that says "Region-free" 100% accurate? I would hate to buy these and find they aren't really region-free

Hm, I'm not sure I care too much about that, but maybe it will matter when I actually see it on my shelf, haha

Thanks a lot!

Is there a way for me to combine my orders from the UK and German Amazons? Or will I have to go through them individually?

Be careful on some titles. On the right of the box art it'll tell you the audio track language and details. For instance: if you don't speak German, you might not want the Death Sentence from Germany, it claims to be a German audio track only (But this may be incorrect. Some titles don't have all the available specs on a release listed until someone goes into a title and edits it). Most the info is decently reliable; but if you're nervous, reach out to someone who owns the version you plan on buying.

Below the "Movie Appeal" section on a Blu-ray title's product page (to the lower right side, below the review summary), it'll say "Collections" and show an amount of people who own it, click there and you can see the members who have it in their collections. From there, I suggest private messaging them if you have questions. For instance: Some will go through the trouble of playing the disc and seeing if there is an english audio track on that release. I haven't had a bad experience asking these kinds of questions to members, as of yet

but I wish you luck nonetheless.

Oh wow... thank you. I probably don't have to worry about the language track with Amazon UK purchases, do I?

But nice catch... I'll ask around on Death Sentence and Perfume.

I just looked at Perfume and Death Sentence, they both have English DTS HD HR 5.1 for them. Does that not mean they have English? What does HR mean?

My Death Sentence and Perfume HD DVDs from Germany had English on them.

HR simply means High Resolution. It was/is a codec that was released around the same time as DTS-HD Master Audio, and is better than DVD quality DTS and DD 5.1, but is still a lossy codec to my knowledge. It's still English though.

And I'm the one who wrote the review for the UK Hannibal Trilogy. I haven't got the chance to fully watch all three movies yet but tonight I'll make sure that the framing issue is fixed on my discs and that the extras and everything work on Region A players.

Thank you Well I guess that doesn't matter too much to me, then, since my audio system is quite paltry... I welcome a lower-end sound mix, since those tend to play nicer with my set, anyways Thank you for the help!

And that would be awesome Are there issues with some of the UK sets?

There was an issue where the framing on Hannibal was off, but I looked at the set I ordered a few weeks ago and the issue was fixed. And it is indeed region-free, so you're safe to order that set.
