Default Dead Space 3 - Awakened DLC Trailer & Screens !

This is the official Dead Space 3 thread. Dead Space 3 launches in February 2013 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Dead Space 3 brings Isaac Clarke and merciless soldier John Carver on a journey across space to discover the source of the Necromorph outbreak. Crash-landed on the frozen planet of Tau Volantis, Isaac must comb the harsh environment for raw materials and scavenged parts. He will then put his engineering skills to the ultimate test to create and customise weapons and survival tools. The ice planet holds the key to ending the Necromorph plague forever, but first Isaac must overcome avalanches, treacherous ice-climbs, and the violent wilderness. Facing deadlier evolved enemies and the brutal elements, Isaac can choose to team up, not only for his own survival, but for that of mankind’s. Play together with a friend or go it alone as Isaac Clarke using the seamless new drop in, drop out co-op functionality. Each mode offers unique story elements and gameplay.

This is the one from E3 that made me most excited and pumped up. I'm already jumping the gun and calling it the best game of 2013 (dead space 2 was my favorite of 2011)

Watching the demo at the EA conference did get me concerned because it didn't seem scary at all with the co-op and the action, but after learning that the game can be played solo I'm not so worried any more.

Playing co-op is optional so I'll do that when I complete it solo; hopefully it'll add even more replay value.

The game looks great & I'll pick it up when it drops. However, I can't get over the fact that it reminds me of Lost Planet in some aspects though.

Definitely a Day 1 buy for me!

Been wanting to play through 1 & 2 again, though. Anyone have them and wouldn't mind selling them?

Don't forget The Last of Us and Beyond!

I completed DS2 and Extraction but never actually made it past the first chapter of the first game...I'm definately going to work up the courage and complete this before DS3 comes out. I owe it to myself as a fan.

IMO DS1 is better then DS2. DS1 was one of my favourite games to Plat. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed DS2, it had its better moments than DS1 but as whole DS1 is better.

I am the same way. I liked DS1 more then DS2 but there was something really satisfying about completing Hardcore mode in DS2. When I got to that last cut scene I think I finally exhaled.

Agree , I hadn't replayed too many campaigns from start to finish, and deadspace 1 was so much fun the second and even 3rd time around (started on the hardest difficulty, think I'm at the shooting rocks part)

Yeah, its just ashame they didn't stick to one animation style and used that horrible CGI. I would have bought it otherwise...

I need to do Hardcore but I keep putting it off.
I have to do it before 3 comes out

http://www.dsogaming.com/news/new-de...-ammo-present/

Quote:
And things get worse and worse for Dead Space 3. Not only will this third part of Visceral Games’ horror franchise be more action oriented, but it has also been confirmed that the game will feature a cover system and universal ammo. Yeap, universal ammo: the one thing that destroyed the whole Deus Ex: Invisible War experience. Way to go EA.
As we have guessed, and contrary to its second part, Dead Space 3 will not feature any Multiplayer mode. That part is replaced by the Co-Op mode that will add new cutscenes and interactions between Isaac and Carver.
Visceral Games has also confirmed that Dead Space 3 will have zero gravity space sections, dark corridors, and all the other things that made the series what it is.
Last but not least, the Icy Planet is called Tau Volantis and the Fodders (game’s enemies) transform into two different necromorphs depending on how you kill them. Ammo drops are also more plentiful this time around.

As Ridley Scott said about the AVP franchise recently, they did it because they're a business and they're only in it to make money. EA recently said that they needed st least 5 million sales for it to be successful, and whilst I disagree with them and what they're doing to the franchise I do see their point. EA are only in this for the money like Activision and they're annual installments of COD with no engine improvements etc. Its all about getting the most money and its just ashame that DS3 will loose part of its identity.

All I can say is that its a relief you can play the campaign as Isaac solo, but I do feel that the horror has definately been compromised as the game will have been built around the co-op system.

In my opinion, DS2 had the right balance between horror and action. It had enough horror to please fans like me and had enough action to please newcomers and create a tense thriller.

Lets hope that when DS3 comes out, it won't have forgotten the players that made Dead Space what it is. Dead Space sold because it was a survival horror. It was Resident Evil's replacement. Lets hope Visceral keep that in mind.

It was awful it was like watching some 90s cartoon cgi (reboot, crash dummies, Starship troopers roughnecks) which is just so aged it doesn't fly I hope they make more movies though

EA CHANGED DEAD SPACE 3 BECAUSE 1 AND 2 WERE TOO SCARY
Quote:
Running around in bright icy meadows with a co-op buddy is far less scary than abandoned, monster filled spaceships. The decision to change the direction of the third Dead Space game was based on market research that found the first two too scary.

Speaking to trade site MCV, EA’s marketing head Laura Miele that that although they were “really proud” of the first two Dead Space games, they “received feedback to understand how we can take the game out to even more consumers.”

“We were hearing feedback that they love the thriller game, but it was pretty scary, and the obvious next step was that they wanted to play with someone. So we introduced co-op into the game.”

It sounds like the scary stuff will still be there, but the introduction of a co-op partner should make things much less scary. “The horror of Dead Space is still all there,” she said. “It’s still true to its roots and no less scary, but people felt far more comfortable playing it with someone else than they did doing it on their own.”

“Personally, I would rather go to [a] scary movie with my husband rather than sit at home with the lights out watching one on my own. We’re looking for that to reach out to consumers that perhaps were not open to Dead Space 1 and 2.”

Brilliant.
