Okay, so this is a badly worded thread title but hopefully you guys can help me understand.
I had a pair of Wireless Gold headsets, the hinge broke and i didn't like the charge running out. So the next thing was for me to look for a wired headset and i got the PlayStation Silver wired headset and the VSS just as with the Gold was great for pinpointing sounds and the effect in games and movies but once again, QC issues and a headband snapped. I was however left with the USB dongle. I had a HyperX Cloud at some point after that but it was a 3.5mm jack so i used it for quite a long time with the USB dongle and the sound was honestly perfect for me but the headset wire developed a fault and i decided to buy a HyperX Cloud II. I continued to use the PlayStation Silver wired headsets USH dongle/soundcard with the VSS option. The sound was again, PERFECT! Then unfortunately due to stupid circumstances by individuals in the household, the USB dongle was damaged and deteriorated to the point it broke. So i thought, "Okay, no problem, i'll just use the USB dongle that came with the headset" and online you're advised to update the firmware to make it work with a PS4 which i did. Now, i also used a USB 4 port extension i should mention from like 2018 when i got paddle mods because i couldn't connect both the headset and wired USB paddles as well as my external. The USB dongle from the PlayStation Silver worked perfectly fine via the extension during that time. However i instantly noticed a drop in quality with the HyperX USB connected this way and no longer was the audio is solid, clear or pinpoint as it had been. Now, connecting it directly to the USB port with the extension no longer there means the audio seems to have improved as perhaps it has more power draw, but even testing a game like Fortnite which i'm extremely familiar with for audio. I cannot hear the audio as well as i ever did with the PlayStation USB and it lacks a pinpoint clarity that i had prior. So i was wondering if anybody has ever used another 3rd party sound card/DAC that manages to mimic the PlayStation VSS as i believe the HyoerX Cloud II 7.1 option just isn't as good as what Sony had and it's almost impossible for me to get the PlayStation USB soundcard or full headset. I've looked high and low and not much look. There is one option but it would cost me maybe £30 or so. I'm actually very tempted. Just looking for advice/opinions i guess. |
