To me it seems, and I'm probably way off, that we are due for a new bunch of great actors. I included a link from a website ( there were a few to choose from but this seemed most current).
Who do you think is the next current up and coming actor to make it big? We are seeing some new actors now, anyone catch your eye as a great potential? http://www.vulture.com/2012/07/most-...vie-stars.html Last edited by Spicoli; 05-31-2013 at 05:00 AM. |

Joseph Gordon Levitt is becoming extremely popular as well. He's my little cousin's favorite actor. Brit Marling has shown talent in her writing and acting capabilities. She probably will not be considered an A-lister, but I think she will have a following of film enthusiasts. |

Also a nice list. Though I do not know much about Driver and Seimetz. Seimetz has a bit of work under her belt. Looks like I need to broaden my horizons.

That was my hardest part of posing the question. I think a good way to think about it is by this list,
http://star-currency.forbes.com/cele...brities?page=0 An actor that will have long time staying power, no flash in the pan. JGL is A list now, but do you see him on the forbes or IMDB list? Maybe multi Oscar winner can be considered but some people do not quantify that either. There is no exact criteria but in my opinion Dwayne Johnson is not an A list actor, just a dude who makes movies. |

Henry Cavill - if Man of Steel succeeds and he gives a decent performance and if the general public accepts him as Superman, then he will be a A-lister for long time.
Michael Fassbender (i dont know if already he is) Matthey McConaughey (good indie roles followed by Interstallar, he has a good chance of becoming one) |

-Hasn't Slater already been an A-lister and went down in flames?
-Hartnett and Farrell are also guys that missed their window to make the jump. -I thought Worthington already was an A-lister. If starring in two of the top franchises (Terminator and Avatar) doesn't put you there, what will??? As for me...I had Jennifer Lawrence pegged as the next up and comer after seeing The Burning Plain....you know that movie everyone ignored despite a performance and material along the same line as Winter's Bone. (With their artsy bias, I am still shocked that she didn't get a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for it.) I'm fairly sure she's a B-lister now but I think Rashida Jones could be the next to jump into major movie roles that put her on the A-list. Zoe Saldana is on the cusp of being near the top of the A-list...I think she breaks through if Abrams takes her over to the other "Star ___" franchise. Of the cast, I would argue that both her and Pine regret signing the 3 movie deal at the rate they commanded as B-listers. Speaking of which...I think whoever gets the leading parts (Leia and Han's grown-up kids?) in VII vaults directly to the A-list (much as Daniel Craig did when he was cast as Bond.) With it being in Disney's hands, I am just hopeful that we don't get an even worse [than TPM] "kid/merchandise friendly" start to the sequel trilogy. I hope Wiig (once liked circa Knocked Up but have grown to hate...when she turned SNL into the Kristen Wiig show) and Garfield (despise the whole renouncing citizenship to avoid paying taxes thing) fall as fast and as hard as both of Mickey Rourke's careers. And as someone who weighs three and a half bills, I think I am allowed to say that the fat woman acts like McCarthy have gotten old and need to be put out to pasture. She hosted one of the worst SNLs in recent years, been in a movie (Bridesmaids) that I couldn't stand watching more than 10 minutes, and from the reviews for Identity Thief, just recycled the same caricature from Bridesmaids. I think a more interesting question is who will be the next Mickey Rourke comeback then fade away? Lohan, Bynes, or Carlos Estevez (Charlie Sheen)? If it's an act, Bynes is doing a TERRIBLE job of playing the Joaquin Phoenix role. I think it says something when these late 90s Disney/Nickelodeon kids are having issues as they transition. I figured Bynes had settled into a decent B-list spot with her movies in the early '00s. Yes, Lohan is an adult and should be held accountable for her actions but is anyone really shocked by them once you look at how dysfunctional her family is? Unlike Bynes (as far as we know), her parents flat out used her as an ATM. Thankfully it seems as though MOST of the next generation (Gomez/Lovano/etc.) have steered clear of those issues. (Still waiting for Miley to completely self implode...and the signs are there for all to see that it's coming.) I have yet to watch his Anger Management show but after the stuff that's come out from the 2.5 Men kid, it's adding a bit of support to what Estevez has said. His act just continued to draw attention and it wouldn't surprise me if in 20 years he writes his memoirs and admits he did what he did to get himself out of that situation. |

I thought Emma Stone, Michael Fassbender, and Matthew McConaughey were already A-list.
![]() The ones that come in mind for possible "A-list" actors are Henry Cavill, Daniel DeHaan, and Ben Whishaw. If Man of Steel does well with the critics and with the box office, then Cavill is definitely going places. DeHaan and Whishaw already earned some attention with Chronicle and Skyfall, respectively, so I'd expect to see more movies with them as time passes. |

![]() I don't know if the A-List even exists anymore. To me the A-List was about stars that could guarantee an opening weekend on name alone. The names of actors aren't selling movies anymore. |
