France Which is the biggest blu-ray store in Paris ?

Guys, will be in Paris soon and wanna go shopping for some blus. Since I only want to make 1 stop for shopping (city is too great to be missed inside shops) I better hit the biggest of them all in order to increase my chances of finding everything I need.

I know Virgin Megastore and FNAC are great, but which is the biggest place in town ?

thanks in advance

Leo

Whichever you choose, bring your wallet and a home loan. Prices at Virgin and FNAC are astronomical -- obscene, extortive. Amazon always has much lower prices, which is to say that Amazon FR only robs you, but at least delivers to your door, instead of robbing you, hitting you and then dumping you on the side of the road the way FNAC does with prices that, after currency conversion, can reach $40 a disc.

Not been in Paris for a while, but I doubt there is someting bigger than Virgin Megastore.

If you visit the neighborhood, you may want to check "Gibert Joseph" in the Quartier Latin, its' a small store but they have also cheaper used items. I used to buy CD and DVD there, never had a problem, they *do* check the item is in very good condition. I guess they have extended to Blu since then, but I can't guarantee they'll have many of them. The address is 34, boulevard Saint Michel : http://www.gibertjoseph.com/GIBERT/f...bookshop=75006

There are like ten FNACs all over Paris. Last time i was there (april this year), the one's i went to didn't differ a lot regarding their selection. The Virgin Megastore also didn't look like it had more to offer.

Prices are insane though, if you don't catch an ongoing sale.

Thanks for all the input, guys.

I know I can expect $$$$$ prices, but the movies I want are very unlikely to get an US version soon.

Also want to shop for special editions and steelboks. FNAC is known for having some nice exclusives. Right now both Amazon.fr & FNAC are running average promotions that might ease the shopping experience !

I will order some online for the convenience of having them delivered to my hotel but I also want to browse some shelves, still the best way to shop for someone with time to spare.

Thanks for the Quartier Latin store info too. I'm staying in the area, so I will definately check it out.

all the best,

Leo

If you have the time, the smart move would be to browse FNAC, note the sky high prices, then see if you can find the same item on Amazon FR and have it delivered to you locally. By the same token, if you order from Amazon FR for US delivery, the shipping winds up being about the same as the VAT, which isn't charged for export, so you wind up with about the same price as you would have paid in Paris with free local delivery. The FNAC on the Champs-Élysées, just a couple of doors down from Virgin, has probably the biggest on the shelf selection of the Paris stores.

I went blu ray shopping in Paris today.

I bought Leon at Fnac and The Island at BHV.

The island was considerably more expensive at FNAC than at BHV.

The prices at the Fnac store are between 20 and 25 euros for old releases.
25 to 30 euros for the new releases.
Now, there is a an offer (3 BR discs for 50 euros)

besides the obvious prices higher than on Amazon.fr comment,

i recommend the FNAC - Les Halles.

bigger choice than Fnac - Champs Elysees in my opinion.

Yeah,... but there isn't anything else on the list that I want and don't have.

(Except for Nightmare Before X-mass...) Anyway... yeah... knowing about the sale would have been useful. If I knew about the sale... I would/could have found 3 things I'm sure.

If you are staying in the latin quarter go to the Fnac Digital (81 boulevard Saint-Germain) at the Odeon stop. Also Fnac at Les Halles and Bastille are good.

I have seen steelbooks.... I ignored them per my usual. I don't buy steelbooks.

I think the clone wars that is part of the 3 for 50 Euro sale is a steelbook.

Sorry about resurrecting an old thread, but I am in Paris for a week and wanted to ask if anyone knew about any Blu-ray stores around the Notre Dame area. Thanks!

Like people say in the beginning of the thread, try Gibert Joseph (Boulevard Saint Michel), they have some great new releases and some used ones.
Or you also have Fnac Odéon not to fare away on the same "Boulevard".
You can also try Gotham (Rue Dante), but their prices are too high for my taste.

Don't try to go to the Virgin on les champs Elysées, it's closed now.

would suggest any big Fnac like the one at Les Halles.

Oh yeah, I knew there was something I forgot: indeed, all Virgin are now closed in France.
And I went to Saint Michel this weekend and Gotham has closed as well.

Gotham is closed but a similar store re-opened (not in the same area 'though) called MOVIES 2000: http://www.scifi-universe.com/upload...2000_actu1.jpg

You also have MK2 Bibliothèque (which is a movie theater with a big BD/DVD store): http://www.mk2.com/salle/bibliotheque

But the best store in Saint Germain is Gibert Joseph: http://www.gibertjoseph.com/dvd.html

Very close to this big store you also have Cine Corner which is a very nice second hand BD/DVD store: http://cinecorner.fr/
