Default Movie scenes enhanced by the music

Thought it would be good to discuss scenes that are enhanced by the score/track. After watching Zodiac's opening scene where the 2 victims are shot in the car, Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man playing in the background was the perfect choice especially when the track gets louder at the height of the scene.

The Last of the Mohicans - the final ten minutes, during the chase and combat on the mountain trail.

Psycho - The shower scene.

The Natural - All of the batting scenes, especialy the last one.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) - Bernard Herrmann's use of the theremin, electric strings, organs, and tubas to create the terrifying music when Gort first appears and walks out of the spaceship. One of the greatest examples ever of music enhancing a scene.

The Misfits - Alex North's captivating score. Enhances the entire film.

Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen - The entire original score, as heard on the recent release. Fantastic, especially the music playing when Siegried lands in Iceland to confront Brunhild.

Schindler's List - Itzak Perlman's violin during the Auschwitz scenes.

Apocalypse Now - Flight of the Valkyries during the village attack scene.

Godzilla (Gojira) (1954) - Main theme. Makes your pulse race just to hear it when Godzilla appears.

Harakiri (1962) - spare but fierce Japanese instrumentation throughout the film, especially the final scenes.

Three Colors Blue - the final scenes.

Zulu (1964) - The main theme by John Barry that plays during critical scenes. Also, the awesome Zulu war chants.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - John Barry's main theme playing during the mountain ski chase scenes. This sequence inspired Christoper Nolan to pay homage to it in Inception.

Not sure this counts, as it's probably a scene more about the music than it is music enhancing the scene, but it's probably my favorite music scene ever.

Honestly....I think them all,I often think about certain scenes and how the musician to me at least has come up with a soundtrack to suit that part of the film perfectly.

The last scene of The Dark Knight. Easily one of the best scene/score combinations I've ever seen. When the TDK caption comes up I get goosebumps everytime

Raiders of the Lost Ark. When Indy is coming down the hill on his horse and when he gets off the horse and onto a truck, the combination of John Williams' score and the horse gets me every time. Then the Nazi using a machine gun, epic.

The opening scene in Melancholia was perfectly orchestrated IMO

The Human Beanz song during the fight scene in Kill Bill

Night Call in Drive

The opening scene in Scott Pilgrim with the band playing

The scene in Moneyball when he's walking onto the empty field

The basement scene in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Fincher)

In Hanna, when the bad guy is whistling

Useless thread; the whole point of a good score is to enhance a scene(s) per the director's wishes. OP is under the impression good direction equals happy accidents.

Next thread: "Movie scenes enhanced by good acting."

I think most of Mean Streets and Blade Runners music helped to set the time, way of life, and emotion of the world they are trying to encapsulate.

I think Place Beyond the Pines soundtrack makes the movie 10X better. I think the emotions that arise within you as a viewer wouldn't be there if the music didn't make the scene feel epic. The music is able to make me able to feel something even though in the later half of the movie my mind is telling me this is contrived bullshit.

Like someone said I think Drive has a mostly perfect score that helps the movie because without it there would be a lot of silence and the movie would really feel hollow.

I think a good one that might actually be good would be "Music enhanced by a music video"
