Blue Underground to release VIGILANTE - Blu-ray Forum

This just in from The Digital Bits:

And our friends at Blue Underground have set William Lustig's Vigilante for release on Blu-ray Disc on 9/21 (SRP $29.98 - the film is already available on DVD). The release will feature a brand new 2K high-def transfer of the original uncut and uncensored version, mastered from the original camera negative. Audio will be DTS-HD MA 7.1 lossless with D-Box motion control enhancement. Extras will include BD-exclusive audio commentary with co-producer/director William Lustig and co-producer Andrew W. Garroni, a second commentary with Lustig and stars Robert Forster, Fred Williamson and Frank Pesce, theatrical trailers, TV spots, radio spots and a promotional reel.

Yeah, this is his second one on BD; Uncle Sam which comes out in June will be his first.

Wow the trailer for this is awesome. I'd never heard of this before, but I love revenge flicks and this looks right up my alley. Blue Underground is putting out some awesome flicks.

This is a definite buy for me. And I agree with it being on par with Death Wish. Would also love Maniac Cop.

Dare I say it -- Blue Underground's as good as, possibly better than Criterion these days?

Fascinating offbeat catalogue with superb, sometimes seemingly unimprovable PQ. They've got a knack for finding elements in decent condition. Good (to great) video encodes and rock-solid, tastefully done surround remixes.

They are both great, but as a 70's and 80's low budget horror freak I tend to lean towards Blue Underground.

That is if I had to choose just one of them. Luckily I don't, and can enjoy great releases from both companies.

Well there;s no denying that they are the Criterion of horror films. It's great to see a smaller company spending the time, effort and money to do a great job on their library. Universal could learn a thing or two from them. We should all be sending them emails just to let them know just how much we appreciate their efforts.

I agree with you on this. I have the dvd, and prob won't be buying the blu anytime soon, but it's a good movie and my dvd is just fine for right now.
