(And if any of you haven't seen Miracle Mile yet, you're in for a real treat. One of the best movies of the '80's, criminally overlooked for decades. Like, literally cannot believe this is coming to Blu.)

Great news- I'm one of about 5 people who saw it theatrically here, as it was released the same weekend as Batman! Hopefully they'll restore the air-raid siren over the rating tag at the very end of the movie, which has been cut off of every video edition.

Excellent news re: Miracle Mile - this is one of my favorite '80's flicks (even though I didn't see it until around 2010). Kudos to whoever was responsible for releasing this on the now OOP DVD, since if not for that I would never have even heard of the film...don't remember this being in the theater at all back in '89.....I'm still kicking myself for not buying the MM DVD when I saw it @ Big Lots about three years ago for a great price. Hopefully the Blu will be in Anamorphic Widescreen, since IIRC the DVD was only full-screen...

The threat of nuclear war was very strong in the '80's, and this movie definitely captures that fear extremely well. I thought it was poignant

Watching it in the 21st century, it was especially amusing to see the huge cell phone that the Denise Crosby businesswoman character was using in the diner

As far as I can Google, this news originated on the Criterion forums. I can't find Steve De Jarnatt's Facebook at all. I see someone RECOMMENDING to Kino Lorber in a Facebook post that Cherry 2000 and Miracle Mile be released.

I too am a huge fan of the film, one of my favourites of the 80s. What I love about the film is that is radically shifts tone and genre and third in as it goes from romantic comedy to

and it works. Can't wait to watch this in HD in the right ratio.
