G4 to be rebranded as The Esquire Network - Blu-ray Forum

As the title says G4 is going to be rebranded as The Esquire Network. The channel will be programmed by parent company NBC and Hearst Magazine, which owns Esquire magazine, although it will be fully owned by NBC. NBC cable head Bonnie Hammer described the new channel as "an upscale Bravo for men," and said that they were moving away from G4 because "Realistically, guys who are into gaming are not necessarily watching television."

The channel will feature repeats of Parks & Recreation and Party Down, as well as shows about cars, politics, world affairs, travel, fashion and cooking. Two original series are “Knife Fight,” a reality competition about “after-hours cook-offs” among young chefs and a travel show featuring celebrities called “The Getaway.”

Figured this move was coming, you could tell the corporate owners were going to rebrand the channel into something else.

If G4 wouldn't have moved mostly away from gaming programming in the first place they may still have been a viable channel. When the gaming content started to go that was when I went.

I have to believe some other channel like Spike would pick up Ninja Warrior, unless NBC/Universal has exclusive rights to it.

Bonnie hammer isn't all nbc-uni thinks she is. She ruined the sci-fi channel. The worst part is her generalizing all gamers in her statement like that. It's a stupid assumption to make and insulting. When Adam left, and he was in a position of authority...i knew it was a matter of time.

I don't know if she retired or not but they should keep her on the network. I'm sure she'd be good at a travel hot spot, tech/geek highlight show which would fit in with their new channel.
