Default Can somebody recommend a good vampire flick?

For what it's worth, my favorite vampire flick is "Fright Night" from 1985. I liked Coppola's Dracula.

I'm just wondering if there are some good vampire flicks that are heavy on atmosphere, gore and nudity. To hell with the plot.

As long as there are plenty of decapitations and/or malevolent, perverse acts being performed, I'll be good.

Maybe something from the 60s or 70s? Are the Jean Rollin vampire flicks worth a damn?

Thanks!

Have you seen The Lost Boys? Probably my favorite vampire flick next to the original Fright Night. There isn't much perverse violence, so it might be not be what you're looking for, but it's still incredibly charming and entertaining.

Heavy on atmosphere? Watch Salem's Lot (1979)

Definitely check out Horror of Dracula. Peter Cushing is absolutely brilliant in it, and Christopher Lee (Who, along with Lugosi, are the faces of Dracula) is pretty decent too. It's like Dracula, but with more of an edge.

Oh wait, plenty of blood and extreme violence...? You kids these days.

Um...Blade?

This. Preferably the original, but the American remake is alright.

I hated LET ME IN. But to each his own.
If you want amosphere, gore and decapitations, 30 Days of Night is an excellent choice.

One of my favorite vampire flicks of all time is Daybreakers. It was original, atmospheric, and very well done.

True but when he says 'to hell with the plot' he'd better mean it

For what it's worth, I've always been a huge fan of Children Of The Night with Ami Dolenz and Karen Black.

I don't know if I'd call it a good vampire film, but it's definitely an entertaining one. Kind of a cross between Fright Night and Subspecies.

Also, the recent Kiss of the Damned is stylish and erotic like you want. (I'm assuming 'erotic' is what you're looking for)

Doh, it's not available on blu-ray yet but The Hunger is exactly what you're looking for.

Lair of the White Worm is worth tracking down too.

The Swedish original is great though.

That's the one Tony Scott film I haven't seen.
