Default Axe (1974)

There was a real low budget drive-in horror film made in 1974 called "Lisa, Lisa" by Frederick R Friedel. It was sold to Harry Novak Production and the title was changed to "AXE." Later it was re-released as 'CALIFORNIA AXE MASSACRE."

In the early 80's, it was banned from the UK along with several other films and labeld as VIDEO NASTIES due to morality laws they had.

This ban brought more attention and over the years, it has developed a real following of fans. It's not a GREAT film, but it's not trash either. Very much along the milder side of Grind-house classics. It's not a blood-feast of a film, but it's very effective at presenting a gritty take about 3 convicts who beat a man to death, terrorize a store clerk and then force themselves into a farmhouse to hide out from the police. At the farmhouse, a young girl named LISA is victimized from them and she get's her revenge on them one at a time with a well-sharpend axe.

It was released on DVD in America by SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEOS, and is now being bought by another company over seas for another release.

I'm hoping for a bluray release of this film. Has anyone ever heard of this film?

Here is a Facebook Fan page recently created for this film.

YES....it's FINALLY happening! I can't say the name of the company just yet because it hasn't been officially announced, but interviews with cast and crew are being set up right now for ALL NEW EXTRA'S and a COMMENTARY for a BLURAY RELEASE. So excited.
