yeah does this look like a studio who has doubts in blu-ray? According to the tools at AVS yes...

I felt great about this ad until I saw Santa Clause 3 on Blu-Ray...that isn't helping our cause in any way. I'd rather see that on HD-DVD.

I never used to like Disney that much... until I got into Blu-ray. They are a HUGE asset for Blu-ray. Not only do they have a great selection of family movies (under the Disney name), they have a great variety of titles under the Buena Vista and Touchstone names as well. Not only that, but they pay to advertise for Blu-ray (Blu-ray tour, anyone?). And unlike Universal or Paramount, they didn't have to be paid off to support Blu.

Recently I've been hearing that families with kids tend to go Blu rather than DUD... I wonder why?

Disney has not only done some smack talking (like putting something like, "Disney Blu-ray. Better Than Perfect" in an ad), but looks like they were the main force in keeping HD DVD from winning their week with Transformers. Yet there are still people claiming that Disney will be going to HD DVD because they like HDi. I'm sure Disney is very familiar with HDi, since they reportedly worked with Microsoft on it. But they've been doing all this stuff against HD DVD while having knowledge of HDi. And this seems a little bit like a guy claiming some girl is going to go out with, because she knows him (she went out with him a couple of years ago and hasn't wanted to have anything to do with him since). If Disney wasn't familiar with HDi Microsoft or Toshiba could walk in and show it to them and maybe they would be impressed. But Disney's actions while they have been familiar with HDi would seem to be important to me as they seem to make it clear that HDi hasn't been enough of a reason for them to release on HD DVD, or quit trying to take HD DVD down.

Are you likely to have more luck with somebody who knows you and despises you, or somebody who doesn't know you?

If you were a salesmen, do you think you would have more luck visiting a place you already visited and demonstrated your product for where they said they didn't want it, or a place that wasn't familiar with your product?

I'm confident that Disney already knows much of what they can do with BD-J and what they can do with HDi and we've seen which side they have taken. They might even prefer BD-J after being familiar with both.

Yep. And you also saw what an insider here said the other day right? Disney will soon be pushing the envelope with Interactivity on BD. In fact, said insdier said that the demos he/she saw of the coming BD Interactivity will make HD DVD wonder what hit it/them...or something along those lines.

Not that I care much for interactivity (would rather have a well produced feature length documentary), but it will be great to finally have this basically final HD DVD talking point (mountain out of a molehill) put to bed forever...

darinp - It seems ridiculous that Disney would have any logical reason to go HD-neutral. They're making a pretty good profit, and fighting a good fight for one side. If they went neutral, it would cause mass confusion, when the balance is heavily in favor of Blu-ray.

Someone needs to go post this over at AVS. I cannot believe how almost all of them think Disney is going at least neutral, if not HD-DVD exclusive. It is hilarious.

To be fair we don't know that. Thier executive choose to answer that with "no comment" when asked. If anything was paid it has not been made public.

i personally, dont really care about BDj or HDi. Ill never use it. I buy Blu-ray for pristine picture and ear-bleeding audio, not stupid online crap and games. While this maybe some folks cup of tea, im personally glad that blu-ray does not waste their time on this stuff. psh, hddvd just needs to DIE already so universal can some this way.
