Here is a review in italian, translated to english:

My review is for the Blu-ray version. The television series Buck Rogers is for me, along with Battlestar Galactica and Space 1999, science fiction with a capital F. As for the quality of this edition of Cult Media would say that we are at excellent levels, I do not know whether it was carried out a restoration of the original films, but both at the definition level and at the level of colors made of these blue-ray is remarkable.

You do not see compression artifacts nor the typical colors of the DVD and the bit rate is almost always between 25 and 30 Mbps. Fortunately they kept the 4: 3 original course with two lateral black bands as the blue-ray, unlike the DVD, not natively provides the image in 1:33: 1. As for the audio is present the Italian track 5.1 and 2.0 and English 2.0 track. The audio Italian, at least in the first few episodes I watched, occasionally has some small alterations in the voice of the characters, I think due to the poor condition of the original master. There is no extra. The pilot of the series is presented here with the television theme song, and not with that film, however in this single DVD ever published by Cult Media.

The quality of packaging, even if reduced to the minimum, it is more than acceptable. Certain that a booklet with some facts about this series I would not mind. I was in doubt whether to buy the DVD or BD, but now that I've watched the first four episodes are fully satisfied that I purchased the blu-ray version.

[Show spoiler]La mia recensione riguarda la versione blu-ray. La serie televisiva Buck Rogers rappresenta per me, insieme a Battlestar Galactica e Spazio 1999, la fantascienza con la F maiuscola. Per quanto riguarda la qualità di questa edizione della Cult Media direi che siamo ad ottimi livelli, non so se sia stato effettuato un restauro delle pellicole originali ma sia a livello di definizione che a livello di colori la resa di questi blu-ray è notevole. Non si vedono gli artefatti da compressione e la slavatura dei colori tipici dei DVD ed il bit rate è quasi sempre compreso tra i 25 ed i 30 Mbps. Fortunatamente hanno mantenuto il formato 4:3 originale, ovviamente con le 2 bande nere laterali dato che il blu-ray, a differenza del DVD, non prevede nativamente l'immagine in 1.33:1. Per quanto riguarda l'audio è presente la traccia italiana 5.1 e 2.0 e la traccia inglese 2.0. L'audio italiano, almeno nei primi episodi che ho visionato, ogni tanto presenta alcune piccole alterazioni nella voce dei personaggi, credo da attribuirsi al cattivo stato di conservazione dei master originali. Non è presente alcun extra. Il pilot della serie è qui presentato con la sigla televisiva e non con quella cinematografica, presente invece nel dvd singolo edito sempre dalla Cult Media. La qualità del packaging, anche se ridotta al minimo indispensabile, è più che accettabile. Certo che un libretto con qualche curiosità su questa serie non mi sarebbe dispiaciuto. Ero in dubbio se acquistare i DVD o i BD ma ora che ho visionato i primi 4 episodi sono pienamente soddisfatto di aver preso la versione blu-ray

Not sure why they did not release these in season packs (as opposed to splitting season one into 2 releases), but at least we know Australia isn't the only place releasing it. I guess we might be seeing this pop up in France and/or Germany in the near future, the same way GALACTICA popped up over there.
