It came on at 11pm on Chan 44 for years in my area. I wonder if DVD's were ever made?

There are DVD sets available. The show ran for 692 episodes. There was also a complete 174-DVD package released which, at the time, was supposedly the biggest DVD box set ever made.

A reboot series called "Wentworth" is currently airing in Australia and I believe it is available on Netflix. I like it but your mileage may vary.

Yes, watched it back in the day. It has an atmosphere all of its own! it ran until the late 80’s though didn’t it?

The remake is actually decent. Although the story has went to a nexpected places in the last series. Also Nicole Da Silva has stunning eyes!

Not sure when it started or ended. I just remember it was on for years and just started watching it and they took it off the air.

It was running well into the 80’s my friend. At least in the UK. I would be guessing at late 80’s before it got took off the air. It reminds me of my younger years and that song is unforgettable. Not to mention the shoddy acting and shaky sets!

Same here, have it on DVD and fancy a rewatch, but at 692 episodes, a rewatch is no small undertaking!

I think they took it off the air around 1982 in my area. I will have to look for the DVD's if they even sell them anywhere now.

In the UK it aired on ITV, which included a lot of regional scheduling. Luckily, my area, the Central region, treated the show very well and we had a complete run that ended in 1991. Other areas were less fortunate and finished much later in the 90s.

Re the DVDs - complete runs are available in Oz and the UK. Not sure whether anywhere else has released any.

I was lucky in the 80s being able to pick up both Central and Anglia. Was simultaneously watching older episodes with Vinegar Tits on Anglia, and the later episodes with The Freak on Central.

The new Freak is pretty good in Wentworth. They did a good job.

Saw 'em all. Starting on Meridian, then watched when Carlton overtook them, and the rest when they played on Channel 5.

Hell, I even saw the stage-play in 1992. Not that damn musical, but the proper version of the show on stage. Got to meet a few of the original cast of the show appearing in it, so all very cool!
