Default Puppet Master 12 Blu-ray collection

Hello,
I am looking to buy this but seems too expensive everywhere and wondering if its worth owning assuming I am a big fan of Horror genre.
Is it like a proper horror/slasher movie like texas chainsaw massacre or a kinda Series?
any feedback is much appreciated

Full Moon Features has made it free with 1 year subscription to their streaming service multiple times. Think it was 59.99 or something. Keep an eye on their site.

That's a pretty big N.O. The first 5 films are enjoyable for what they are but even the best aspects of the series pale in comparison to most slasher films.
And with each sequel the films become more and more goofy and the budget's go lower and lower. The Puppet Master films have their share of slasher like moments early in the series, but this isn't Child's Play or anything that carries even a hint of tension like most slashers do. They can be fun films to watch, but if you go in expecting a slasher film you're going to be disappointed.

If you've never seen any of the Puppet Master films before I highly recommend you watch one first. I haven't checked recently but the first few films used to be dirt cheap on ebay and Amazon and so I'd recommend starting with part 1, 2, or 3, seeing if you like it, and then decide if it's worth picking up the collection. (The franchise's chronology and story telling makes little sense and so while parts 4 & 5 are directly related, much of the rest of the series involves ret-conning and changing elements of what came before it to keep the franchise moving).

If anyone wants to watch them for free prior to buying, Full Moon has uploaded most of them to TubiTV.

https://tubitv.com/search/puppet%20master

For some weird reason they skipped part 2 but uploaded the VideoZone extra

I've been thinking of picking the set up also. Did Full Moon fix the issues with the defective Puppet Master 4 disc?

There's apparently a fix, and if you get it from Full Moon you'll almost certainly get the corrected one.

But on that topic, does anyone know if there's a way to tell whether the one I have is the corrected one or not? (Sort of like how Shout/Scream movies will have a code on the disc that says "V2" or something). There's not a lot of detail on the disc that might indicate one way or the other.

EDIT: Reading up on the issue, it sounds like the defective discs straight up don't play? Mine plays, and I was able to skip through and it still played, so I'm assuming I'm good?
