United Kingdom The Dark And The Wicked (2021) Acorn Media

There's a few releases gone under the radar and unlisted on UK releases here recently and this one just dropped today. Hopefully we'll more Shudder movies on hard copy soon. Pretty good price at Ł12.99 too.

Definitely picking this up soon, loved it when I saw it on Shudder a few months ago.
Has anyone got it? Just interested if there are any extras included, and what the PQ is like.

It's a solid picture but not mind blowing, it has the same Q&A feature the US disc did. The one weird but not very relevant thing I noticed is that on the disc alongside the UK rating logo, there's an Australian rating too. I don't think I've noticed that before.

I just ordered it, I quite fancy The Beach House but no sign of it. It’s available on German Blu-ray but it has no reviews. I’m always wary incase the German subs on the English track are forced. I’m guessing not but would like to be sure. Anyone?

That's commonplace here in Australia. Many BD releases here also have the UK ratings logo on the disc, likely because they're the same Region B encoding. A couple of releases here recently even had an identical censored scene as the UK counterpart.

THE BEACH HOUSE has an American BD so why not just go with that to avoid the possible disappointment?

Ah. When that’s not a problem for me, it’s easy to forget that’s still an issue for some.

Acorn Media is RLJE, they operate in both territories. However in the UK they tend to release series as DVD only. Even Rosencrantz and Guildenstern was DVD only here from RLJE. One exception for Acorn was Chernobyl (1080i).

Great film, watched it last night. Incredibly atmospheric with a constant creeping dread. More Acorn please! Hopefully Impetigore and Hunter Hunter.

If sales are good for this first batch of titles, I’m sure they’ll continue releasing the rest of their catalogue here. The US release of Belzebuth is a BD-R so the UK release will be upgrade plus we seem to be getting The Power before the Americans.

Looks like Indeed Film in Germany are rolling this title out as their first 4k uhd release.

This appears to be back on the release slate in 4k uhd for October 24 from Indeed, via limited German 4k mediabooks......Feels like a gamble on the technical side...

Any idea where to order this one? I've been looking all over and no luck!

According to Indeed Film's German webshop product pages, it looks like the release has been pushed back again, now to November 30. Preorder is not up yet. It appears to show two different planned mediabook covers to choose from.

https://indeedfilm.com/collections/v...over-a-kopie-1

and

https://indeedfilm.com/collections/v...-cover-b-kopie

Could be a pretty risky buy in terms of PQ, as Indeed seems to have no prior 4k uhd release experience, and have pushed this release out several times over and over. I'm in wait n see mode for now, hoping it actually materializes and looks the part.
