Kind of late, but I just watched my DVD to see if I wanted to get the German BD package. There are only two small sections of Farsi: one early on when Nadi tells her husband she didn't come to America to live like a gypsy; and near the end when she relates a dream about a trapped bird.

For what it's worth, my Dreamworks widescreen DVD is pretty great PQ; I don't think I'll be upgrading unless they bring out a remastered 4k version at some point in the future. I doubt that will happen, so I'll probably just live with the DVD.

Wow, what a cluster^%$@ of a story, huh? Really depressing.

Received mine today. Dated/filtered transfer and some poor compression going on (see #1 and #23 for compression and 19/20 for weird filtering in action for ex), but it's better than the BD and I'm glad to have this in HD at all.

And it has it's decent moments as well (#23 for ex, if you ignore the weird compression in this particular frame).

No subs (as in none at all). The disc is region free (just checked with PowerDVD set to region A).

I can't remember either and would have to check my DVD. There is some foreign dialogue, but I can very well imagine that there aren't supposed to be any subs resp. never were any.

With "No subs" I also just meant that there aren't any subs on the disc at all - no English subs and not even German ones.

I just checked my DVD and it has subs for the few foreign dialogue (burnt-in German ones and optional player generated English ones), so they are missing on the BD.

EDIT: And I'd like to add that some of them are crucial.

How does it compare to the Italian release? I can't find the German version anywhere(at least that will ship to Australia.
