Italy Don't Look Now - A Venezia... Un Dicembre Rosso Shocking (N. Roeg, 1973)

Nick Roeg's iconic horror flick has been announced for December 2 (perfect month for this release! )* Courtesy of Pulp Video/Cult Media which did a great job with some great classics like Knife in the Water. I'm really looking forward to buying this disc, especially because the Optimum edition features some serious noise reductions and other messes, even tho it uses the approved restoration. Let's hope the video master isn't "corrupt to the bone" and that it benefits from a new transfer.

*the intriguing, but totally different, Italian title in fact translates as "In Venice... a Shocking-red December".

I hope they would get the original master without the additional tweackering job Studio Canal did in UK!

Anyone got this yet? If so is it the same filtered mess the Studio Canal release is?

I would double-dip as well if it's a new transfer. This is one of my favorite films.

looking around, i found this in another forum:

Quote:
il bd italiano č identico a quello uk con l'unica differenza dell'audio italiano e di una maggior compressione visto che č stato usato un bd-25...
translation: same transfer, dolby digital audio to fit in a BD-25

*throws up* why does every label hate this amazing film. Probably going to have to wait until October next year if Criterion release it too. I'm an impatient consumer dammit.

Yeah, being an idiot I bought this. No mention of Studio Canal on the box, but then when you run the film the first thing you get is the blasted Canal logo, followed by the same old transfer... Sigh.

Is there any hint this is happening, or are you just getting our hopes up with wishfully thinking out-loud? (not saying there's anything wrong with wishful thinking, but don't get our hopes up, I'd love for this to happen.)
