You should search Amazon and take a look at some of the DVD covers, especially the Shameless, the Scorpion Releasing BD is positively tame by comparison.

My blu-ray came in yesterday and I just had the chance to scan through a bit of it. I have the shameless DVD and this one is miles better. There's a lot more print damage than some of the other Scorpion titles but this is a wonderful presentation as far as I'm concerned. The grain structure is excellent, detail is the best it's ever looked on any home video format and colors look accurate. Sound is fine, didn't wow me but it didn't disappoint. The only extra is a few trailers for Seizure, It Waits in the Dark (which is hilarious because it uses so much footage from Humanoids from the Deep), Dogs (which looks so awesome and cheesy), Sorority House Massacre (can't wait for this blu-ray), House on Sorority Row, and Death Ship. There are chapter stops but you can't access them from the main menu, you just click next on the remote.

I was sort of hoping for something in the extras department for this release since it's such a fascinating film but the transfer is worth the price for me.

As for the film itself, it's awesome. Brutal, disturbing, gory, sexually depraved and surprisingly very well made. The haunting score is beautiful and adds a touch of class to the mayhem. Don't expect a gore fest but this film gets downright nasty in some scenes.

Scorpion has a fantastic year lined up so far and with the recent announcement of The Haunting of Morella, they're quickly becoming my favorite company.

SOMETHING WAITS IN THE DARK is the US version of ISLAND OF THE FISHMEN! It was also released in the US as SCREAMERS. Glad to hear this confirmation of it.

That's what I thought but I was confused with the clips of nudity from humanoids from the deep. Looks like a fun flick!

My understanding is that it hasn't sold well enough to date to warrant any additional pressings.

I have the Synapse DVD and it wasn't a title I was in a hurry to upgrade…but I just ordered it…I would hate to have missed out. And if this was a ploy to sell more copies...it worked.
