Default [PS3/PS Vita]New Atelier Rorona - Contains a lot more content than a Plus version

Quote:
In an earlier report, Gust director Yoshito Okamura talked to Dengeki PlayStation about the future of the Atelier series and reiterated his hint that Atelier Rorona being the next in line for a remake. This week Dengeki PlayStation revealed the remake, New Atelier Rorona, and it is in development for PlayStation 3 and Vita.

New Atelier Rorona will have plenty of new content according to the leak. The character modeling is said to have gone through a big upgrade, which will better depict the original illustrations.

The game will also feature new events and the time system has also been extended. Gust will also add a Time Capsule, item cultivation, additional trophies, new battle characters, and additional costumes.

New Atelier Rorona has a cross-save feature, allowing you to carry your adventures from the big screen on PS3 to your pocket on Vita or vice-versa. The PlayStation 3’s limited edition copy will come with a crystal paper weight, and a controller sticker, while the Vita’s limited edition will come with a mini-crystal paper weight, and a skin for the console.

New Atelier Rorona is slated for release this November for PlayStation 3 and Vita.

I'm really looking forward to this as Rorona is in desperate need of a remake considering how outdated it is compared to Totori and Meruru. That and most newcomers of the series won't even give Rorona a chance because of how outdated it is. So this new version of the game is nice for those who never played Rorona. I'm just happy to see Rorona again since she is my favorite out of the three Arland Protagonists

In our previous post, we got a look at Gust’s upcoming remake of Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland, titled New Atelier Rorona: Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland, which will be released for PlayStation 3 and Vita this November. The latest reports in this week’s Dengeki PlayStation magazine shares additional details on the new features.

In addition to the revamped character models, New Atelier Rorona will offer plenty of new content. You’ll have a private vegetable garden that allows you to cultivate veggies. There will be benefits for using displayed items for decorations. The time capsule will work by putting items inside, and sending it through space-time, which results in a different item altogether.

Players who have save data for either Atelier Totori Plus and Meruru Plus will be getting special benefits, too, which have yet to be revealed.

Additionally, those who have save data of Atelier Ayesha and Atelier Escha & Logy will also have something fun to look forward to.

According to the magazine, Gust wants New Atelier Rorona to be considered more of a new release, rather than a “plus version,” as the 3D modeling and everything else are being developed within Tecmo Koei.

Mel Kishida, who illustrated the original character designs for the Arland series, will be supervising the work on character models. Dengeki PlayStation mentions that there will be one change to a particular character that will surprise many fans. Furthermore, there will also be some unexpected characters who’ll join your party during the end-game parts.

Additionally, the battle system in New Atelier Rorona will use Atelier Meruru as the base, so it will be quite different from the original Atelier Rorona. The addition of finishing moves will be one of the bigger changes to the system, where we’ll be seeing the likes of Tantris and Sterk pull off flashy moves.

Finally in addition to the new character models, the background and maps will also be seeing a makeover. Certain parts of maps felt too wide in the original game according to the developers, so Gust will be making changes accordingly accordingly.

New Atelier Rorona: Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland is slated for release this November on PlayStation 3 and Vita.

New Atelier Rorona: Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland is a remake of the first game in the Arland trilogy. Totori becomes Rorona’s student in Atelier Totori and then Totori mentors Meruru in Atelier Meruru.

Surprisingly, both Totori and Meruru will be New Atelier Rorona. Dengeki PlayStation says both characters will be playable and come from the future.

New Atelier Rorona will be released for PlayStation 3 and Vita in November.

Gust has a remake of Atelier Rorona in the works and after seeing this video I think New Atelier Rorona: Origin Story of the Alchemist of Arland looks more sophisticated than original Atelier Rorona. Aside from upgrading the graphics, Gust also changed the core system and used Atelier Meruru as a base.

New Atelier Rorona comes out for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on November 21.

New Atelier Rorona is a remake of Atelier Rorona which starts the Arland trilogy. Somehow Totori, Rorona’s future apprentice, and Meruru, Totori’s future apprentice, are in New Atelier Rorona.

Totori appears to be her 19 year old self since she’s wearing the same costume from Atelier Meruru and Meruru isn’t a kindergartner (going by the US ages, Meruru would be five between the games since Rorona is 14 in Atelier Rorona). Hmmm… I wonder what’s going on here.

Here’s a look at a new scene in New Atelier Rorona. Totori and Meruru from two other games in the Arland trilogy "meet" Rorona. Fanservice of course, but it’s a neat bonus to see since we know how all three games play out.

15 games, 5 on current-gen, there needs to be a master thread.

I'm interested in the 5 games out & or coming out in NA. I think I'd like to get these on Vita. 3 are supposedly out & the one mentioned in this thread would make 4. (Remake) There is no date on "Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk" coming to Vita. I hope they don't skip it. The other is the recently released in Jp "Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky" which I'm sure will get both PS3 & Vita versions in NA at some point.

PS3 or PS Vita?

PS3 & PS Vita Titles & Release Dates (NA)

1.) Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland

September 28th 2010 (PS3 & Vita)
November 2013 (PS3 & Vita Remake)

2.) Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland

September 27th 2011 (PS3)
March 19th 2013 (Vita)

3.) Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland

May 29th 2012 (PS3)
September 3rd 2013 (Vita)

4.) Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk

March 5th 2013 (PS3)
No release date (Vita)

5.) Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky

No release date (PS3)
No release date (Vita)

Depends really. The VITA versions of each of the games are great because of all of the new content and the fact that you can play it on the go. That said, I have never played any of the VITA versions, but I hear that they suffer from some frame-rate drops from those that have actually played them.

It really comes down if you really want to play the game on your TV with a more stable frame-rate, but with the lack of new content (PS3 Version) or play the game on the go with new content but with frame-rate drops here and there (VITA Version).

Thanks Richie

I didn't know of frame-rate issues. Decisions.. Decisions..

I only gots,

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk on PS3 & would prefer to have these 5 games on 1 console. I'd re-buy this game on Vita if possible.

Ill look around some more on the 2 that are already out (wait for Nov for remake) & if they are ridiculously priced..

New Atelier Rorona: Origins of the Alchemist of Arland is a remake of Atelier Rorona with her future apprentice, Totori, and Totori’s apprentice, Meruru, as cameo characters. In a new overtime scenario the cameo characters suddenly appear in the past and seek help from their future teacher, Rorona, to get them back to their world. Totori says they need a special item to make the trip and Rorona agrees to help them.

Ever since Tecmo Koei acquired Gust we were counting the days until there was an Atelier crossover with one of the Warriors games. After Sterk from Atelier Rorona was confirmed to be a playable character in Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate, the next question was when would something from the Warriors universe enter the Atelier universe.

And the answer is November.

Dengeki PlayStation reports Rorona will have a Wang Yuanji costume in New Atelier Rorona. Also, Rorona’s teacher Astrid is a playable character in the PlayStation 3/Vita remake.

New Atelier Rorona comes out on November 21 in Japan.

All I can say is...FINALLY! Finally Astrid is playable in the series. I thought it was odd that she wasn't playable in Meruru considering she returns in that game after being absent in Totori...

Yeah well Astrid was too busy turning Rorona into a child in Meruru to worry about being in battle and then running her own shop once again. Though I suppose you could argue that Pamela has been a playable character including Atelier games before the Arland saga. Totori's sister was probably the most random playable character.

Any chance of the 5 games being released together on PS3 when the remake New Atelier Rorona comes out?

As a collection? No. Maybe at best a collection of the Arland games but even that is very iffy. Dusk series hasn't ended yet.

New Atelier Rorona has more playable characters than the original game. Astrid, Rorona’s teacher, can joinher party along with Esty Dee, the receptionist in the Adventurer’s Guild. Esty was playable in Atelier Meruru, but she’s much older in that game. Esty is just 26 in New Atelier Rorona.

Astrid is 26 too and right now Gust is keeping her powers a secret.

Gust also made some tweaks to the game’s core and switched the battle system to the Cost Turn Battle System.*New Atelier Rorona also adds MP, which you can use to activate skills instead of Cost. New Atelier Rorona comes out on November 21 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
