Youtube not working on PS3

The videos won't load. The ad plays and that's it. This started happening last night. I have Java enable too.

Can anyone check on their PS3 if it's working for you?

Yeah the Internet Browser Youtube doesn't seem to work for me right now. Just get a blank screen without even an advertisement. I haven't tried the App lately though since I mostly just use the Internet Browser Youtube.

This started with me a week ago.
I would get the update needed screen then my system would reset. Happened time and time again so I gave up.
I just noticed that my phone app just updated it so maybe they are doing some work on it

Tomorrow's scheduled maintenance on PSN might fix this, dunno. Will check later.

It's working for me. It wasn't smooth sailing though. First I loaded it up to test and it prompted me with a new update, but that totally froze my PS3 so I had to restart it, and it had to restore the filesystem. So once the PS3 loaded back up I decided to just delete the app and re-download it from the store. It still prompted me to update when I loaded the app, but the update went smoothly this time. I signed in, and I'm now playing a video.

edit: 1blufan seemed to have the prob I had Just follow what I did and it should work again

Update did the same to me as well. I don't think I deleted the file though, just restarted YouTube with a second attempt on the update & it worked.

I'm thinking Sony already knows about this, hence their update tomorrow.

You think maby youtube changed something software related and sony needs to update the browser?

They changed their layout completely on an update for IOS apps yesterday.

Deleted the app and re-installed it.
Works fine now.

What device are you trying & what software are you trying to run YouTube?

IE on desktop works fine.
PS3 App works fine.
Mobile devices work fine.

If you are trying to run YouTube on the PS3, delete the app & re-download it off of PSN. Run it & it will update automatically.

I checked the "whatever" OS the PS3 is using for the Internet browser & no you can't playback YouTube's which yes is a problem.. but even if you could, would you really want to?

The speed is So Slow..

If you have an Android phone you should definitely try pairing your phone with your PS3, the Android Youtube app is easily the best experience out there! Browse videos on your phone and queue them up while they play on your HT.

I did fire up the browser to test and youtube seems to be not working for me either.

EDIT: Oh I noticed there is a message on the browser instructing PS3 users to download the app for their "made for TV experience"

The app is great. Best youtube interface I've used, and the videos play back without a hitch in HD. if you haven't tried it lately, you should try it again as they've certainly improved it from the past.

I have no problems using youtube.com on PS3. It's very convenient for me when i'm laying in bed. Quick, easy, simple access. The app i have to load and browse through a bad interface. And it's not even in HD. Everything is automatically zoomed in.

I really hope sony or youtube fixes whatever is wrong with the PS3.

I am having a HUGE problem watching some videos with the YouTube app. For vids rated M or even TV-14, I have to sign in using a cellphone telephone. First off, that is THE stupidest thing EVER! Why do I have to use a cellphone telephone to operate my PS3? Why is there NO WAY to sign in JUST using my PS3?!? I'm complaing about this because when I do use my cellphone telephone, it STILL won't let me watch it! The screen changes, but when I hit "play", it gives me the sign in screen again! OH, THIS IS SOOOO STUPID!

So, my question is, "What am I doing wrong?" Has anyone else had trouble using their cellphone telephone to watch vids on YouTube? Is there some way to contact Sony and let them know that having to use ANOTHER electronic device to navigate my gaming system is the DUMBEST IDEA EVER, and that we should be able to sign into a PS3 app USING the PS3? Just wondering...
