Default Anyone else's excitement for PS4 starting to wane a little bit?

I know mine has. I don't know if it's because there seems to be a drought of news lately or if it's because I keep seeing the same old titles over and over or what but I'm starting to get that "meh" feeling now about getting the PS4. Can't really pin point one specific reason why but somehow I'm just not as excited as I was.

I think they need to announce one of their inevitable titles that will release in the future. We all know they are coming but need something to talk about.

I'm personally kinda let down at the Launch titles. I was hoping for more variety, but hey . . . it'll happen.

I don't think it's a question of variety, especially when you factor in all the 3rd party and indy launch titles, there's TONS of variety.

I think part of it with me are all the cross-gen games like Battlefield, COD, Assassins Creed, etc. Everyone knows all of these games were made with current and next gen in mind, which we all know means that the next gen versions aren't really pushing the hardware.

Yeah I agree. I was REALLY hoping that Sony would officially announced The Last Guardian at TGS. Or something surprising like maybe Shenmue 3 or a new Dragon Quest. SOMETHING to get truly excited about. I haven't really seen anything interesting or exciting since they showed "RYSE" at Gamescom.

Excellent point about the first round of cross-platform games. I personally wish the PS3 and 360 would go away so we would start getting true next-gen games

Everything that is known has been talked about, so the excitement has become, quieter, I would say. For the sake of marketing, I have to believe something new will be announced in the next few weeks to get the conversation going again. There has to be a form of balancing act right now, to keep interest up in the new, without hurting sales of the old. But I sort of know what you mean. I'm busy enough with PS3 stuff, right now, and there are the thousands of feet of cedar siding I have to stain before it gets too freaking cold.

I unfortunately have to agree. My interest has severely waned and it all comes down to a lack of value in the packages being offered. All but one represent a real 'saving'. The rest of these 'bundles' are basically a game for £50 extra which is still way the £40 you can get them for seperately.

I'm likely as mentioned going to sell my launch edition and just wait it out. Might even be a year till better and proper 'bundles' are offered. PS3 I had no qualms with buying at launvh and felt I got value. Here, i'm for the first time going to really let my wallet do the talking and wait.

Possibly because the reveal was in February and the launch games were already revealed back then? (KZ4, Knack, Drive Club...)?

Also, in a fairly unusual turn of event, Sony has been super tight on leaks .. so nobody knows what sony's internal studios are workign on for the post launch, aside from Sucker Punch's stunning Infamous Second Son or Ready at Dawn's The Order 1886.

I am personally quite excited, particularly with the crazy indie titles or titles like Resogun (and of course Second Son), but my plan is still to get the console around Spring 2014 (I am not a Day 1 buyer type).

I keep getting more and more excited as we get closer to launch. So many games I'm looking forward to. Early 2014 is also going to be good with Destiny, Infamous, Thief and I'm hoping Witcher 3.

I think it's mostly because Sony have been kinda' quiet lately. But I think as we get closer to launch, they're going to kick the PR machine into gear and start showing some of the near-final code for some of these games. That should get people more excited for it.

I think it just because the lack of news lately from Sony... and I expect to be that way for while longer. We will get some announcements in DEC at the VGAs, then probably nothing for a few months after it.

I am sure your interest will peak up a bit once around Nov 13th

That could certainly be part of it. It does feel like we've been talking about it forever and that the system should already be out.

Very true! I mean, we've seen what Sony has wanted us to see up to this point with nothing leaked.

However I think for myself, I'm not seeing enough new IP's by the major AAA companies. Infamous SS looks great, I agree....but it's still Infamous. I wish Sucker Punch had revealed a new IP rather than yet ANOTHER Infamous. Killzone Shadowfall looks amazing I admit but it's still Killzone! Now I'm hearing that ND is rumored to be working on Uncharted 4. God, REALLY?? ANOTHER Uncharted?? I would much rather them be working on a completely new IP or at the very least a new Jak and Daxter since we haven't seen one of those in so long. I'll bet anything that a new God of War is in the works as well. On top of these we're getting the garden variety stand by's like Battlefield 4, COD Ghosts, Assassin's Creed 4, Madden 25, etc.

Of all the big budget launch titles I've seen, probably Knack and Watch Dogs have me the most excited along with indy titles like Outlast simply because it's something new. IMO this is what the PS4 launch is lacking.

I take it you didn't see the announcement that Guerrilla's followup to Killzone will be a brand new IP?

What else is there to say? We beg and beg these companies to give us news before a product is even ready. They do months/year in advance and now we still get impatient because they haven't given us new news on the same product they haven't even released yet. I realize people these days have the patience of a gnat but at least give it some time. There has already been so much revealed that needs to be consumed at launch.

Go enjoy your PS3 if you have one for the next month+. I have a few titles I'm trying to get through before launch day because I know once I have a PS4 in the house, it will be taking up all of my time.

I'm getting pretty excited. It's just over a month away and I have a lot going on until then, so I know it will go fast!

Could it be because the news has been so focused on GTA no one is talking until the hype/anger goes away?
