Red face Cannot play Blu-ray disc in HP hdx9350

I bought a blu ray disc (National Treausure 2) to play on my brand new laptop with its nice built in blue ray player.
It did not work at first and found out in the manual how to change the setting.
I found my country (Denmark) and it was set automatically to region 2 after asking my country.
Great I thought.
Tried it again and got the same message that the disc cannot play because of the region setting on the player.
I bought the disc here in Denmark and therefore it must be region 2.

Anyone know how to help me?

Also I must add I know very very little about the computers so please explain in detail.

I think the problem is you have a Blue Ray player. Get yourself a Blu Ray player, and everything should be fine.

Look at the back of the case and make sure its a Region 2, then go into the player software and make sure it matches.

Default Cannot play blu ray in HP hdx9350

I would contact HP to find out about the built in blu ray player in your laptop.

okay.
I have the same laptop, different model (mine came with HD DVD, which I replaced with BD writer on day 1)
are you using HP QuickPlay? or are you using PowerDVD?
try to change it this way... don't insert any disc. open Quickplay, make sure you update to the latest version. install, restart, then reopen quickplay. go to the DVD menu (remember. no CD inside your drive). using your remote control, press (i) - (at the right bottom corner of the arrow keys)... check the region code there.

I noticed that you mentioned region 2. that is for DVD. For BD it's region B. Follow the instruction above to change it. It is not available on your drive setting, but only in the software. It can be changed for 5 times, but unlike DVD, when you uninstall the program, the 5 times count will reset.

Make sure you turn the DEP off. It might help. Right Click on Computer, click Advance Settings (or something like that)... try to find Data Execution Protection tab. add the program to the list. I think quickplay is C:\Program Files\HP\QuickPlay\QP.exe

you may be required to restart

I have an HP Pavilion dv9843cl laptop with blu-ray player and am having similar HDMI problems playing on HD TV. Thanks to your forum I've solved the video playback issue: cycle through display settings (Function F4) until you just have image on TV, not both laptop and TV. But I can't get the sound to work. Any suggestions?

Within QuickPlay click on the info/more settings and in the Audio Output section click/check mark “SPDIF” so that the software knows you want to send the sound through the HDMI connection.

Hopefully that will solve the problem.

or you can always use windows Sound settings and set HDMI to default.
