I will always be a original Twilight Zone fan. Charles Beaumont, Rod Serling and Richard Matheson were some of the best creative writers of that time. But after viewing the whole Alfred Hitchcock Presents 1-7, I have to say AHP is right up there in the tops with me. I guess I can't choose now. I will have to say if I want a real life, murderous drama with a twist, AHP will not disappoint. But if I want to stretch the imagination and go into another dimension, TZ will always be the best. Fifties and Sixties were the best for television.

I only watched the Hitchcock show rarely as a kid, but I've long been fascinated with The Twilight Zone, even though I've only watched a handful of episodes.

the twilight zone at its best its untouchable in its genre, but Id like to make a case for AHP:

1/ while the best episodes of the twilight zone are better than anything AHP provided, Id argue the average level of the AHP episodes is a bit higher than TTZ. There are really a lot of mediocre episodes in the 2-5 seasons of TTZ

2/ nobody disputes the massive influence TTZ had, but AHP was first and earlier and thats a point that rarely gets mentioned.

3/ humor: TTZ had little or too much of it in certain episodes, while AHP had the perfect amount

4/ hitch's introductions presenting the episodes are even better than rod serling's

5/ AHP is a lighter watch, you could watch it at any moment of the day when you have a moment to kill. TTZ requires a bit more of a "perfect" setting to really enjoy it

I mean personally I think TTZ is the better series but I also like AHP and I think it deserves a reappraisal and hopefully a BD edition
