I am tired of my system, in particular my Def Tech speakers. I just want a change to something different, and really want to move away fro bipolar speakers. I have 7002 for mains, Mythos ones for surround, and a DT center channel. Anyway I was thinking about going with SVS speakers all the way around. I like the Ultra bookshelf surround system. What are your thoughts on this move, or SVS in general?

![]() ![]() Why are you tired of the bipole's? For movies, music? ![]() If you like them for movies, but not for music, (as my preference leans) why not just get a seperate set of speakers for music? ... just an idea. Or.....go for the SVS. ![]() ![]() |

My 7002's in the main position number 1 don't have a back wall to even take advantage of the bipolar technology. Overall I just want a change. I saw a review from Audiohalics about the ultra bookshelf speakers and was impressed. Audiohalics does not just throw out good reviews easily, or because of ads.

I reviewed the Ultra tower and the Duets on another forum.
Great sound. The only issue I had was the price...and still made in China. However, the gloss is fabulous. (Basically. Why is the Ultra tower the same cost as the Salk SongTower and Axiom M80...???) Last edited by schan1269; 12-11-2014 at 07:55 AM. |

Def Techs are made in China too. I mean if that's the standard we wouldn't buy anything I guess.

I'm not following to be honest. None of those speakers you mention are cheap or anything. I did not know we were gonna get into a patriotic talk about where speakers are manufactured. I would like to buy US made, I guess I'll look into that.

Have a feeling the "made in P.R.C." is one of the reasons "V" of SVS is no longer there... |

Well I am not sure here SVS is made, I keep reading different things.
I checked out the Infinity speakers, but I am not sure they are US made. They are cheap though. I want really good sounding bookshelf or smaller speakers. I am tired of these DT behemoths I have now. Just want something that sounds as good, but without the size. |

What is the word on Goldenear speakers? I have avoided them because I assumed they sound just like Def Techs since its Sandy's new company. I was thinking maybe getting 4 Aon 3 speakers for main, and surrounds? What do you think of this idea?

Sure. You can read all the reviews you want to, but you need to actually listen to speakers to see if you like them, otherwise, you're just speculating. Not everything that looks good on paper is actually good, and vice versa.

Hey there,
I'm not sure what your budget is, but check out PBN Montana loudspeakers. Speak to them and they may have an extra showroom set available for sale......they make some great mini-monitors which sound MUCH bigger than their physical size. You won't be disappointed... ![]() or go with the SVS gear...its all good ![]() |
