Disney getting rid of the original castle intro on 1980's films?

After viewing the Little Mermaid for the first time last night, i was sad to see the original Walt Disney Pictures intro gone. I've included a video for anybody who doesn't know what i'm referring to.

It seems like this intro is always being replaced as of late. Anybody else annoyed by this or have any idea behind Disney's reasoning?
