I mean, this is the greatest eighties movie, better than anything else out of there. I just hope there will be a MASSIVE restoration, and we'll get the definitive, absolute edition.

To the OP - I don't really think this movie requires the "massive" restoration you think it does. It's been kept in pretty good shape (it's not THAT old) and was cleaned up a few years back for DVD. From all accounts, the new blu-ray should look pretty solid.

I JUST know that JACK BURTON is my Elvis Presley. In my book, he is the most perfect being in the whole universe. This must be one hell of a BD edition.

Megatron: big, silly, dumb Transformer from a Michael Bay movie.

I think Megatron will be over in a matter of minutes.

some site had a side by side comparison of the DVD and the BD....it is GORGEOUS. They really did this movie justice with the transfer. I seriously cannot wait for August 4th.

Remastering for sure... just wondering if they did some restoration too.

Does someone know if the 2001 DVD was a success? I've heard it was a big hit in the DVD sales department.

As mentioned earlier, I don't think a restoration was even remotely necessary for this film. It was not in bad shape, and had already been cleaned up not too long ago.

The 2001 DVD was a pretty popular seller, indeed.

I must add that the 2001-2006 REGION 2 Special Edition DVD sucks in comparison. I'm talking about picture quality.
