Watched "Parkland" on Blu-ray last night. I was a little freaked when the disc froze halfway through, but it turned out it had a massive fingerprint on the edge of the disc (don't ask me how) and once cleaned, it played fine.
As noted, it's an account of the three days surrounding the assassination of JFK that focuses around secondary characters involved in the event, like Oswald's brother, Abraham Zapruder who filmed the assassination, the doctors in the hospital ("Parkland") who treated the President and a couple days later, Oswald himself. It's an odd perspective with the major events playing out from almost outside the context of the movie (seen on tv, reported on radio, etc as characters watch or listen) and doesn't dwell on anything that would feed conspiracy theories but it's still a harrowing, very compelling movie and very well acted. Taken at face value, it shows how the actions of one man ripple out through countless lives with devastating consequences like a stone thrown in a pool. The movie is surprisingly enthralling for such a well-worn historical subject. Highly recommended. |

I watched this tonight and enjoyed it although it was nothing new in terms of what happened to JFK. I'll always believe that JFK was killed by Nicoletti and Files rather than Oswald. There's just too much evidence that points to those two men.
