Default Need low power blu-ray burner/reader for new MacBook Pro Retina

I just got a brand new MacBook Pro Retina 13" model 2 weeks ago, love it!

9 hours of battery life, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 802.11ac Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 wireless, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, two USB 3 ports, an HDMI port, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone port.

Thin, light, so fast.

I'm looking for a low power blu-ray burner/reader for it.
Ideally it would power off the USB 3 or Thunderbolt 2 port, I don't care, just don't want to lug a power brick with me.

Any advice on good choices, from people who really have them I appreciate it.
(yes, I can do a search and find them out there, I'm looking for feedback here)

1) do they work good powered solely off the laptop battery
2) can I burn a blu-ray from laptop solely, or is that rolling the dice for mis-burn?
3) etc

thx in advance for feedback.

I got a Buffalo USB 3. It's big! A lot bigger than an LG DVD/CD drive I have. It may get some power from USB, but it also has a small wall wart, about 1" x 1.5" x 2.5". The drive's cable doesn't have 2 USB connectors (to enable 2X power over USB). I am not sure the LG blu-ray drive is much smaller.

I have never tried burning a disc, and I run Power DVD 10 (came with the drive) on a Windows 7 laptop (Lenovo X230). Haven't tried the drive with a Mac Mini because I don't have HDCP compatible display on the desktop.
