Default Wolverine Extended Edition Ultraviolet

While I know that The Wolverine has not come out in the United States, across the pond, the Blu-Ray hit stores in a number of formats. I'm wondering if the UV will redeem in a theatrical version only, if it will redeem 2 versions (like in the Total Recal remake) or if (most likely) it you will need to buy the Extended from VUDU as with World War Z.

It's a Fox movie so I am not sure if there is any precedent with their movies redeeming twice like Total Recall (Sony) or Hansel & Gretal (Paramount). I'm checking my copy I got on the buy/sale/trade thread. It redeemed fine and shows in Vudu already as being available to watch in 13 hours (that seems to be the theatrical version). I'm looking in to UVVu right now. UVVU sucks when you have a large library so it may be a bit before I can tell you.

I don't think that will help much, I believe the VUDU preorders aren't UV until official release date, or sometimes after as with Man of Steel,

No. It's UV already. I guess I should have specified that I redeemed a UK code, not a Vudu preorder. It transferred from my Flixster account already. I bought a UK code and redeemed it through Flixster. I checked my movies in Vudu and it's there when I list my movies by date. It just says I can't watch it for 13 hours.

FYI. Only theatrical shows up in UVVU.

It varies from title to title. I've had some that were UV-enabled from the moment they went live for early streaming (and showed up in my UV locker as well as in all of my linked services), and I've had others that weren't UV-enabled until around the release date.

That is what i suspected. I have an unredeemed UK Code as well, but wanted to see if I could figure out how it redeemed before I did so.

I also wanted to get an idea on how it might redeem here in the US as I plan on getting the 3D Blu Ray Extended Edition.

THanks for sharing.

Target Ticket has the extended cut of The Wolverine and it is UV compatible. There are four versions at TT: theatrical, theatrical with featurette, extended, and extended with featurette.

Vudu, on the other hand, only has the theatrical version with no extras. I'd say the best bet to get a UV copy of the extended version is to redeem the code through Target Ticket. Of course, if you do get the extended cut, you won't see it in Vudu since they don't have it.

By the way, was there ever a general consensus on where best to redeem HANSEL AND GRETEL in order to get both cuts. I always redeem a movie at its studio site, and never really have a problem. But, I know there was much debate about that one title. Would love to hear people's thoughts.

I did it through Paramount's site, got the theatrical immediately. The unrated version automatically showed up a few weeks later.

Thanks for confirming that. That's what I planning to do.

You tell 'em, Steve Dave.

For what its worth, I emailed FOX to ask which Digital Copy is available with the movie, this was the response:

Thank you for your email! The digital copy is the theatrical version. Should you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,
Fox Customer Care

That said, Cineamnow, Target Ticket, iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay, FIOS, and Sony Entertainment Network all claim to have and Extended Version.

The unrated version of World War Z was widely available via digital services, but the digital copy redeemed as the theatrical version.

My guess is that there's only one version for the digital copies, and since the regular 2D release doesn't include the extended edition, the one digital copy version will be the theatrical version.

I think you are spot on. I received a follow up email from Fox stating the following:

Dear Valued Customer,
Only the theatrical version is available for redemption. It is possible to purchase the Extended Digital Copy edition through a digital retailer; however, the purchase of the 3D Extended version only includes the theatrical version digital copy.

We apologize for the confusion.
Thank you,
Customer Care

So you can buy digitally in several places, but can only redeem the Theatrical.
