Default Black Friday HOPEFULL Hauls

With the Holidays rapidly approaching, what blu-rays are you looking to hopefully pick up? I have yet to see any actual lists about what blu-rays will be on sale from Amazon.

Here is my some of the movies I hope have lower prices next week

Chuck: Complete Series
Oblivion
Warm Bodies
Any Studio Ghibli (highly unlikely)
Walking Dead Season 3
Camelot
My Name is Nobody
Tremors Attack Pack

Sorry to side track but you do know the Ghibli stuff can be stupidly cheap through disneymovieclub correct?

I did an order and got about 7 of them for $21 or something like that. Almost all of my Ghibli titles come from them. (I had to buy 2 more titles then but I wanted for stuff that was about the same price as in stores like Avengers 3D.)

Anything Disney or Ghibli rarely drops below $17-18 no matter what time of the year it is. If it's a 3D combo pack you can absolutely forget anything less than $19.99 and most never get below $24.99.

That has been my experience of late. Although, costco has some good disney deals (about 15$) on some titles.

Anyways, I sure hope that I can find some of these with good deals. I have found good deals every year so far. Hopefully it continues!

This is why I buy Disney titles in the first few weeks after release at Wal-Mart so that I can get a pristine slipcover. Amazon always price matches Wal-Mart when it comes to Disney titles anyway. You can always tell when Amazon has a title that ends in .96 for the price.

Best Buy will have Disney Blu-rays for $16.99 next week. The ad shows five titles, but gives no idication if there will be more or not. Some of them will be cheaper at various places on Black Friday, but not all.

But yeah, in general they typically don't drop that low. Release week is usually the best time to get most Disney films, especially the animated classics and Pixar films.

They only price match them with Wal-Mart's online price. Until recently, Wal-Mart's online price was always higher than their in-store release week price (often by $5 or more). But as of late, Wal-Mart has been offering them for the same price online, which is definitely a welcome change (particularly for those who use Amazon).

  • The individual James Dean DigiBook releases (Rebel Without A Cause, East Of Eden & Giant)
  • The Right Stuff (DigiBook)
  • Assault On Precinct 13 (Collector's Edition)
  • Cape Fear (1962)
  • The Odd Couple
  • The Haunting

I highly doubt these titles will be lowered, but one can only hope.

You may have missed my point that you can get like 7 Ghibli titles for about $21 from Disney Movie Club. ... Or maybe you know that already.

Locally, Ghibli title are expensive. From DMC I got like I said about 7 Blus for $21. (Then I had to buy 2 more titles at full price but I wait till stuff comes along that is about the price I would pay in store like Avengers 3D for example.)

I don't know if you missed the "deal" I was trying to point to or if you know about it and aren't interested in it. My Ghibli's came for a dollar or two each all from DMC. (Castle in the Sky, Howl's Moving Castle, Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbor Totoro... I don't even know what else. I may have bought Ponyo and Nausica elsewhere... don't remember.)

-Brian

I wouldn't buy a Ghibli title or any other anime in the first place, but that is good to know for other folks I suppose.

ok.

(The DMC can be good for other disney Stuff too from Avengers to the Great Mouse Detective. Still the whole club process only appeals to some but details are in a huge thread in the deals section for anyone who doesn't already know.)

The only Ghibli title I actually want to own is My Neighbor Totoro, because I grew up loving that one on VHS. I'm not really big into anime, which is a good thing for my wallet!
