Default Best Buy upgrade and save?

Any ideas when the next one will be?
Or how often they traditionally run this promotion?

They've traditionally done them once a quarter, I believe. There's usually one in October. People on the forums who work for Best Buy and have access to insider information have said they do not see one scheduled this mont, or into November.

It's very possible that Best Buy is doing away with the promotion, though we don't know for sure. The size of their media department would certainly suggest it's no longer a priority.

This makes me sad.

Please keep in mind that the month of October is not over yet. By the time it's November, and we still haven't heard anything about U&S it would be safe to discount it.

I remember the last U&S we had, it felt like a very short break between the two promotions so they might just be lengthening their periods between the U&S. Maybe once every 6 months? Once a year?

In a way, I'm kinda glad. I've accumulated a bunch of mediocre $5 blus, that I probably wouldn't have bought if they were more. I would say, eh, it's only 5 bucks, but over about 60 blus during its run, that's $300.

I loved getting $5 titles during U&S and it was a great way to get rid of the clutter in one's collection (upgrades, duplicates, bad titles, etc). However, after I traded in most of the clutter I had accumulated over the years and cheap DVDs became harder to come by, I started to lose my enthusiasm for the promo. I hated having to dig deeper into my collection to find titles to use as trade-ins.

So, I have mixed feelings about the presumed end of U&S. I thought the promo was great and a good percentage of my bluray collection was purchased during it but I was getting kind of tired of it. Especially after seeing many of the titles I purchased during the promo go on sale later for $5 without the need for a coupon. I was starting to feel like I was wasting time (waiting at Customer Service) and my DVDs.

I heard something of interest about this at my local store a few days ago. It seems the program is coming to an end, but something will be taking it's place. Their will be new features added to My Bestbuy that keep track of your movie/game purchases and grant you special coupons based off how much you purchase. It was described to me as if I bought 10 games I'd get $10 off one game. And if I purchased 10 movies I'd get $5 off. I'm assuming these will be one time use.

I will miss the U&S though it did me and my collection well.

Well that sounds good for BBY but not for us.

lol, and quite lame. I don't mind really that UandS is over. it had to end sooner or later, but this "replacement" is rather chintzy and not really worth it. good sales with good stock would be better. or at least sales that would apply to online orders for f@cking once

I mind, but only because I still have 2 quarter DVD's left from Dollar Tree. That's 50 cents I'm never going to get back

Two $0.25 DT DVDs?

Ha, I bought up about 70 random DVDs from a local library sale last month in anticipation of the next U&S right before all the posts/threads on the demise of U&S started popping up, so I have you beat there.

I don't even know what most of the titles are.

At least it was bag sale day, so I got all of them, plus a bunch of books and CDs for $10. Fortunately, I decided to pick up some books and CDs instead of filling both bags with DVDs.

If that's the case, they should just revert to their past antics and mail out 10% off media purchases, because there's no deal or incentive there!

Sad if true.

I guess my old dvds will go to Goodwill.
