They are aiming for uniformity with the sequel Steelbooks. The poster art is on the standard releases.

Yeah, I like the clever perspective of seeing the theatrical art essentially from the shark's perspective, but the original poster art on the front would have been much nicer. If anything, these should have been put on the back of the Steels.

These covers look like they spent 5 minutes on DALL-E 3.

I get wanting to have the same look for all of them but wasn't the original art work for the movies similar anyway and looked a lot like the first movie's steelbook?

I don't mind having custom artwork if it makes the whole series look great next to each other. The BTTF trilogy steelbooks are great, for example, but this just feels lazy.

mifunefan said it just above, these wouldnt look bad on the back of the steels with original poster art on front. but i bet those dinguses at universal never even thought of that.

Or possibly even better, had the sharks perspective be part of some art on a plastic slipcover, best of both worlds and a fun little gimmick with the packaging.
